Patches Eternal from version 0.5.2 to version 0.5.3
USE ONLY IF YOU ALREADY HAVE ETERNAL 0.5.2 INSTALLED.
This is a PATCH installation that will upgrade a 0.5.2 installation to version 0.5.3.
You can determine your current version number by doing one of the following:
1. Launch Eternal and look for the "Beta Version" number at the bottom of the initial loading screen.
2. Launch Eternal and look for the "Version" tag under the logo on the main menu.
3. Go to your Retribution directory and open "Eternal.module" in any text editor. The mod version number will be displayed at the top.
A changelog is included, but the biggest highlight is the rework of Eldar shields and five new maps.
If you are still on version 0.5.1 (the launch version; was only available for under 48 hours), you will need a new full install.
Long shot , but some day down the road if you ever get the chance... do you think you could take dow1 necron units and put them in this game? Enough to make a base army for necrons in pvp? obviously you got skils if you could pull off what you did already
Hi there. Moving forward, come over and talk to us at the Eternal server!
On your questions, we can't say for now. The DOW2 modding community doesn't even have those models, so you're asking for something impossible. Hopefully, the modding community grows and people are willing to commit to making Necrons or even porting them over from DOW1. Cheers!
Honestly I get what they're trying to say. Porting the units from Dow 1 or a mod with assets could work. Most of the races have no visual difference when in cover for dow 2, so in theory it could work and the cover system could still work for them, they just wouldn't line up against cover lines correctly, and only a stat would change.
Honestly it might all have to be ported just to save everyone some time because you are right, there are no base dow2 necron units to work with other than the lord. Even then it's gonna be tough
That's another thing. It is extremely difficult to port DOW1 assets. IIRC, the process is so time-consuming and tedious, its thankless work. Its why a community needs to come up and work together to address this.
But alas, most people would rather be players. They just want things done for them on the spot, without any issues. They're so demanding, they don't even see the technical issues causing the lack of it. It is very hard to explain to people.
Anyhow, pushing past my venting, I hope this explanation makes better sense. Again, come over to the discord server. Easier to get hold of the devs and myself there! Cheers!
Man if thats the case we should get a group of people to band up together and start working with unreal engine 5. and make an unoffical port of soulstorm. The worst part is like you said thankless. Do you think gamesworkshop would ever approve a kickstarter for such a project? If you think its possible Im pretty good at advertising, and I can hammer them with proposals. This has probably been talked about before. Anyhow Ill see u in the discord. This thread is too old for this hahaha
Just to end this thread, no... GW would never approve an independent kickstarter for such a project. It would immediately be shut-down. So, will see you in the discord server! Peace out!
