I am pleased to announce Lazarus, a version of Hellfire II which includes some of the early alpha designs of Sierra Industries expansion mods. I hope you will join me this 4th of July weekend to celebrate the release of this classic mod.
Here is the Readme enclosed in the package, just incase you would like a preview.

Lazarus BETA 4 by Alexander for Diablo II patch 1.05b
Features
-Monster properties 'MS' and 'LE' will now display in BOLD and in Color(Red/Yellow)
-No longer displays Trapped Souls on map
-Weather enabled in acts 2 and 4
-See monsters through walls
-Displays all monsters on map
-Brought back some items from Lord of Destruction to classic
-Monsters will be set to /players 7 difficulty
-New warps to boss levels in act 1-3
-Gheed now sells mana potions
Files
-Hellfire II.exe updates the save directory to current location of the application.
-Game.exe allows for the game to be played without the CDs as long as the files are copied to the application folder. Credits to Fearedbliss for his singling package.
-D2Client.dll updates the save extension from .d2s to .d2l.
-D2Game.dll is the same as above.
-D2Launch.dll is the same as above.
-D2Win.dll grants the new titles for characters in this mod.
-D2gfx.dll allows more than one client to be run, credits to Fearedbliss.
-D2Music.mpq includes the game's music for this mod.
-Patch_D2.mpq includes the game's files for this mod.
Installation
-Install Diablo II from the either version 1.0 or 1.02 Cd sets.
-Update the Diablo II client to 1.05b.
-Copy the packaged files to the Diablo II directory.
-Create a shortcut for Hellfire II.exe on the desktop. (optional for devs)
-Right click and open the properties for the new shortcut.
-On the target line, add "-direct -txt" after the app location.
-Run Hellfire II as administrator and set the compatibility to Windows XP
using the new shortcut.

Notes
Because its hard to stash all your gold in classic, I added runes/collectables
that can be bought and traded for with other players to help you trade/stash your large
amounts of gold conveniently. You can't use them like gems in Lord of Destruction,
they are just for trading.
In order to allow for a /players 7 game, Fire Enchanted monsters will now do 7x more
damage when they explode. Exercise caution when dealing with these monsters.
Extra
Thanks to Fearedbliss for making singling for classic Diablo II. Its a
great mod for classic and it will give your CD/DVD drive a break.

After hours of testing this mod, I just want you to know, it took a full party of players to make it to the end of Act 4. I still haven't reached Diablo yet, as I am rushing a spear barbarian and leveling him up to kill Lord De Seis (our party got stuck here). I have a level 26 Sorceress with good resistances and static field for when we reach the final encounter with Diablo. Good luck, everybody else.

Well, we beat Diablo after hours of grinding act 4 for expience points. We didn't end up using the spear barbarian just yet, but his warcries helped. Still haven't found any new items, just a Goldskin and Tearhaunch from Diablo and a Hawkmail from act 2 earlier. We are starting nightmare as men and maidens. Good luck for now, everyone else.

Fixed a problem with the loot table that causes the game to crash. Also, NPCs will now sell exceptional items in nightmare and elite items in hell. If you can brave nightmare and hell without losing all your gold, you can now purchase better items. Slashed item values by 4x to lower elite items max value so it is possible to gamble elite items.

Wow, so now its slim pickings after the prices have been slashed. It takes a while to fill up my stash with gold. Good news for the people who prefer strict standards when dealing with in game currency like in some MMORPGs. There are some good white items for sale from vendors which can make some godly imbued items. I didn't slash the prices on miscellaneous items, so selling things like arrows and potions will give you a boost early on, and later on, items with extra gold find will most likely be the best items to help you gain more gold.

Bare with me, I am still balancing the secret cow level exp and drops. They will be higher level but reward less points now. Its more distance, less speed. It is possible to find upgraded items in normal, that should give players the boost they need to make it through nightmare.

All item prices slashed by x16. Now trading your gems, arrows, bolts, potions, scrolls will help you buy better items. Elite items aren't outrageously expensive anymore.

For example, Windforce would be a Gothic Bow and Harlequin Crest would be a War Hat. If your character is holding any elite items, you will have to clear your inventory if you want to move your character to version 5.
