I need someone to help me. So when I try to install the COD2 Mod Tools it asks for the location to setup mod tools. I click on browse and select the folder where COD2 is located. Then I click next but an error pops up saying - ''A valid Call of Duty 2 installation could not be found at the path specified. Please specify the path where Call of Duty 2 is installed.''
I've already tried the regedit method but it doesn't work. I can't even patch the game too. I have version 1.2 .

P.S. the game is cracked though so yeah maybe I need the steam version or something

The tools can't find your game in the registry because you downloaded a ripped version. A legitimate disc version and the Steam release shouldn't have that issue.

I have the Steam version of the game but when I browse to it E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 2 It gives me the error saying it requires a valid game install, but clearly I have it installed. And I already restarted steam and verified the integrity of the files.

For those who have the steam version, copy this text , paste into new file replace InstallPath,Installdrive, EXEString and MultiExeString with steam paths or your custom path and save it as all files and name it anyname.reg ( basically a registry file ), and then run it and click yes. Remember to use \\ instead of \ in path.

;Text Start from Next Line

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Activision\Call of Duty 2]
"InstallPath"="C:\\Program File (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Call of duty 2\\"
"InstallDrive"="C:\\"
"Language"="enu"
"StartMenuFolder"="C:\\Users\\Username\\AppData\\Roaming\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Start Menu\\Call of Duty(R) 2"
"Version"="1.3"
"UninstallString"="C:\\PROGRA~3\\COMMON~1\\INSTAL~1\\Driver\\9\\INTEL3~1\\IDriver.exe /M{D0A05794-48C2-4424-A15A-9F20FCFDD374} /l1033 "
"EXEString"="C:\\Program File (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Call of duty 2\\cod2sp_s.exe"
"MultiEXEString"="C:\\Program File (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Call of duty 2\\cod2mp_s.exe"
"QA"="14.0"
"codkey"="CDKEY"
"PatchLog"="C:\\Program File (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Call of duty 2\\cod2patch.ini"

;Text end

The mod tools installer should work now.
And if you are wondering, what is this? These are basically registry entries created by COD 2 DVD version which uses installshield.
And this also works for a cracked version 😶.
