How to install mods
--------------------------------------
First, you must have these:
Earth Defense Force 5: Store.steampowered.com
Mission Pack 1: Extra Challenge: Store.steampowered.com
Mission Pack 2: Super Challenge: Store.steampowered.com
Then:
1. Backup EDF5.exe
2. Decompress this 7z inside the root folder of EDF5, in the same folder where EDF5.exe is located.
For example: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Earth Defense Force 5
3. Run game

How to restore the original

If you have already backed EDF5.exe up, restore it directly
If you not, remove EDF5.exe, then start game twice with steam

Now updated with several features not available in the original version.
So if you can't start the game ( when you have installed ".NET Framework 4.5"), you need to report the problem to download page.
All available settings are set in 1ModOption.ini
Now known to crash when damage is displayed:
Enter game to quickly start a mission may cause game to crash.
Quickly return to HQ after driving a vehicle will cause game to crash. (Appears in damage display setting 3 and 4)
Quickly switch damage display mode in enabled real-time read configuration will crash when return to HQ.
Quickly return to HQ can cause a crash when game lags.
Now, when both "RTRead" and "DisplayDamage" are 0, the damage display function is completely removed.
If necessary, you should open 1ModOption.ini, then set DisplayDamage to 0.
Crashes need to be reported to this page if they are other circumstances.

Is anybody else unable to do the missions before the new missions in the mod now? Keeps crashing on loading for me.
You can try starting missions that don't crash, then starting missions that do crash.
The final solution is to copy winmm.dll from os (like C:\Windows\SysWOW64) and rename it to 1mod.dll to overwrite the original. You have to know what you're doing, and if you do it wrong, os could crash.
But this would take away the new features and would only mean being able to start the game.
My apologies, I figured it out. I put the old version in it's own file but upon deleting it the problem was gone.
Downloaded but found trojan... is it safe?
If you think there is a risk, you may consider disconnecting from the Internet or using a virtual machine when play.
Of course, if edf5.exe's CRC32 is not F884E8BB, 1mod.dll is not 31512D94. Your file may have been contaminated during the download process. It's really at risk now.

OK, Does it happen in No Damage Display?
Do you need to delete ALL save data to use this or just simply use a new file slot?
My game seems to crash at random during mission launch.
I can't seem to replicate duplicate crashes so I can't be for sure what is causing it.

I played a lot today. Patch from 4/1 is installed, and so is the debug from 3/21. Had several crashes at points:
Mission #4 - Crashed at the end of the underground section when I ran ahead of the NPCs and the bunker door opened before the dialogue completed. Avoided it by waiting for the NPCs to go up the ramp first and complete their dialogue.
Mission #8 - Seems to crash randomly. Unsure if it's tied to specific events, but often times it happens before the Super Anchors are all destroyed.
Mission #10 - Crashes during loading if I have Spritefall Shattered (any level) equipped. Avoided by bringing a vehicle instead.
Mission #12 - Crashed if I left the Bee anchor chain for last, exact timing of the crash seems to be after the last Super Anchor's invulnerability ends, soon after the dark bees spawn. Was able to repeat this a few times. Resolved by destroying that chain of anchors earlier in the mission.
Mission #13 - Crashed during the part with the teleportation ships, exact timing seemed to be after destroying 2-3 of them and they dropped enhanced monsters. Destroying the ship that dropped dark bees first (before the reinforcement wave) seemed to prevent the crash and allow me to finish.
Mission #14 - Crashes soon after the beginning, soon after dark bees exit from the Mobile Base, right after HQ says "The Air Force will be here any second". Have repeated this a few times. I am unsure if I have any way of avoiding this one.
Also, EnhancedWP is set to 0 and DisplayDamage is set to 3 in 1ModOption.ini
Update: On mission #14, using cheats to quickly kill the dark bees as they spawned prevented the crash. I believe the crashing occurs once a dark bee tries to attack.
Switched EnhancedWP to 1 and DisplayDamage to 0, but still crashed when dark bees were allowed to attack.
Update 2: After completely uninstalling the mod files and EXE, reinstalled v0.4 and patch 1 without the debug. No more crashes once dark bees attack. Overall, unsure of why their attacks would cause a crash.
You can't install both patch1 and debug, because they are mutually exclusive. And debug doesn't seem to solve the problem now.
Although there is a problem with bee, it may simply be the result of allocating memory too close to the weapon.
So it need to install patch1, which has some memory leaks but does not cause the necessary memory to be freed.
