Placeholder Gameworks started out as a studio that is dedicated to making thought-provoking games. We want Death and Taxes to inflict a deep and emotional response in our players, while keeping them safe with our, well, sometimes dark sense of humour. We want our players to take a moment of pause to reflect on what it means to bear responsibility over another person's life, even if it's made up and merely digital. The western world still considers talking about death taboo in some cases, Death and Taxes' aim is to provide a safe space for players to open up that Pandora's Box in their minds and sharing what they find within themselves with others. We consider ourselves part of the so-called "death positivity" movement, attempting to break that taboo, slowly but surely. Our team is comprised of both industry veterans and newcomers and we are about 7 people strong. We are all part of the Estonian game development community and try to contribute to our local game development culture.
