That is so cool. I take it that you didn't recreate the map but simply changed textures and used a hex editor to add some stuff into the game? I feel like more people should know about this but the modding community of MP2 is so small.

All I want I some way to add npcs to the existing levels. This would make a fun endless experience, using the map editor is hard and I am not really a good mapper myself.

Thanks. I made this one in 24 hours because I had some unrelated nightmares myself and wanted to create a nightmare level lol.

Yes that's probably the only thing I haven't seen anyone do yet but you can quite easily change/edit any sound, music, effect, texture, enemy type, some of their behavior etc on any existing level. The methods might be gimmicky but the result works. Technically you could remake any level in the game with the map editor because that's what the developers used too, but it would be extremely time consuming.

I have seen a lot of people creating mods for 20 year old games even recently and people making youtube videos about it, but of course it requires that players search for this stuff themselves. There's also the official Max Payne 1+2 remake on the way and while I'm not holding my breath I will keep an eye on what they manage to do with it.

Exactly. If only Remedy shared the source maps.

There is ONE thing I managed to do for MP2 at least, you might have seen it already. I have a very small mod where Vinnie is helping max and mona at the mansion level, the mod goes by the name "A Path Never Was". Sadly the enemies will never see Vinnie as an enemy, but at least everything else is working.

This was one of many dreams I wanted to do in MP2.

What other ideas do you have in your mind.

Max Payne levels are extremely scripted almost every step of the way so there's that, you can only break so many sequences and still finish the level but it can be done as seen by speedrunners. I think you could still make some mods where your starting point in an existing level is different (like you would start in the middle and go towards the end from there), that would be pretty easy to change.

I pretended to play a max payne like game with papers with multiple factions and many playable characters (one of these factions was a free police force which is allied with an illegal faction that do special missions to eliminate the other gangs), so I guess I have lots of ideas. Still have the list of the missions with the numbers of friends and enemies on each one.

I can't think of something at the moment, I guess one of them is having the 3 men that work for vinnie help us protect him? If only I can recreate the maps to a good enough point. At least I can edit the singleplayer missions of C&C RA2 and 3, same with HL1.

Do you mean like a physical board game?

I was thinking about MP1 levels and Max should more often have some backup even if he's a lone wolf personality. They fixed this in MP2 as he often does have Mona with him or random guys in most of the levels. When they do the official remake I guess they will do something like this, especially the Part 2 where Vlad is okay with Max going to the Ship and the Manor alone and doesn't give Max any soldiers with him to increase changes of success.

About some nightmare levels, I think the Second Vodka and UES levels could be changed around like this Warehouse level, maybe set a different starting point like in the middle of level so it becomes shorter.

I currently prefer this forum format to respond to people actually, don't even have a discord at the moment but maybe in future. But you can DM me here if you don't want to share mod ideas to everyone.

I'm okay with sharing any ideas, not a big deal.

I considered trying it for MP1, it can be easily done but of course the ally will never be seen as hostile by the enemies, yet it's still better than nothing. A cool idea is to have Alex continue with Max using this method. This can even work on ANY model either official or custom.

I had no idea the audio cut half the way through the video. This one was a re-upload so I never checked, I linked the original from my old channel in the description where the audio should be fully working.

Thanks for the sub, I hope you find something you link among my 150+ videos.

Yeah I watched your videos and the audio cuts off in more than one video if I recall correctly.

About the other games, I have never really played any Half-Life games but I remember downloading some Deus Ex mods from this site and enjoying them.
