The Last Resort mod for Swat 3 helps improve the look of the game on modern computers. This is accomplished by a combination of custom game launcher, modified game files, and replacement high resolution textures. Works on all versions of the game (retail CD, GOG.com, and Steam version).
The main goal of the "Swat 3 Last Resort" mod is to upgrade Swat 3 to take advantage of modern video cards and monitor sizes. When the game was first released 800x600 was the standard resolution and most video cards only had 16mb of video memory.
- Make the 2D menus run also in 800x600, 1366x768, 1920x1080
- Make Swat 3 run the actual 3D part of the game at any chosen resolution
- Make the game use textures of a maximum size of 1024x1024 (instead of 256x256 pixels)
- Make new menu and chat lobby graphics for larger screen resolutions
- Upgrade low resolution textures in Swat 3
You can easily restore your game back to default Swat 3 by clicking the on/off button on the Last Resort Launcher. The installer will also automatically make backups of all your main Swat 3 files for safety.

While I was packaging this up I saw so many maps still to upgrade. No map is 100% complete yet.
It doesn't matter, you do this on your spare time and you do this for a very small community.

Aw thanks. I am glad that I can finally focus mainly on generating new textures. The upgraded map textures will make it more obvious why the mod exists in the first place, lol.
thank you for making this gem playable. its a bit odd to purchase something on GOG and it not work. I've dl'ed this mod a few months back and then uninstalled S3, but happy to see an update and looking forward to spending time in the game again
You probably had the classic problem with movies crashing your game because of the ancient Indeo codec. I assume GOG and Steam don't have the right to modify the movies so you wouldn't have this problem.
You can download replacement movies or just install the replacement movies found in the Last Resort installer.
dgVoodoo2 is recommended for better frame-rate on modern versions of Windows.
