Small update to the previous, not sure how people will like it. Some subtle changes, not huge. A realism sound mod, featuring real recorded gun, explosion, cannon, mortar, rocket, and bullet crack sounds. "Firefight" as I title it, brings you the most immerse experience to what a real firefight would hear and feel like. If you're a person who values realism, and/or enjoys the sound of real warfare, then look no further.

| Firefight - a COD2 Realism Sound Mod |
|**************************************|
Features
--------
v3.1
- Same thing as previous, but figured out how to soften all the hiss in the sounds. So now they sound high detail but without all that extra hiss.
- Basically perfection now, that I'm aware of. Some people complain about the sounds sounding too boomy, well, the game requires a big sound, so, that's what you get.
- Explosions are not as loud anymore, but they're still audible and slightly louder than the guns, or should be.
- Everything that I'm aware of is as balance as can be; quality, loudness, realism, etc.
- This is the best it's going to sound like a real war for this game, so enjoy it for what it is.
v3.0
- Same thing for the most part but a quality update. Went back to the high detail version, but it's slightly fixed, so it doesn't sound as unpleasant.
- All the sounds are basically in higher quality.
- Springfield, Luger, and Mosin Nagant Sniper have been changed back to their old sounds. Their older sounds just fit better.
- Some other sounds like the Tank/Flak cannons have been changed back to their old sounds.
- Webley revolver has a longer echo. After some consideration, thought it stood out having a short echo (even though it was recorded that way).
- This is a jump to 3.0 because I had others I could have released just before this, but after testing, decided to go with this one, as it's the most accurate/most pleasant.
- Nothing else I can think of worth mentioning. Should be last update, but you never know.
--------
v2.4
- All the sounds are in slightly higher detail, less clipping, less distortion, more crisp, etc
- All the sounds have more of a loudness balance, so some guns don't sound incredibly more louder/audible than the next.
- The sounds have slightly more thud/pow, explosions have more bang. Every consecutive shot/detonation hits and shocks you more.
- The sound differences between each gun stands out a bit more, to people complaining about them sounding too similiar (which they do in real life, so you can't really fix that)
- Machine gun fire is more audible, you can hear every individual shot better (so you get more of the kakaka, brabrabra, blrrrrrr, wompwompwomp, etc)
- Explosion sounds are a lot louder (simply raised them in the volumemodgroup, instead of heavily amplifying the sounds themself, so they sound clearer while being loud)
- Luger and Springfield changed to their real sounds (before were sampled from other guns, because at first I didn't think their real sounds meshed well with the others, but now this edit makes them mesh better)
- M1 Garand's final "ping" shot changed. The ping is the same, but the final shot is the same as the first several shots, instead of it being a different sound.
- New sound for the Mosin Nagant sniper (it's the same sound, but used a different sample that may sound a bit nicer).
- The Cannon/Rocket impact explosion sound has a longer echo (probably barely noticeable, but it doesn't cut off short when audible).
- New Cannon sounds, taken from the same recordings but different samples that all had similar BOOM to it, while having longer echoes than the previous ones used.
v2.3
- Used a technique to "split" the frequencies instead of removing or surpressing them. So the hiss becomes inaudible, but the high end isn't masked, suppressed, or muffled in any kind of way.
- Doing this allows no portion of the sound that just sounds too much or too little. It all flows out naturally. The sounds are more audible and no sound is more audible than another.
- Figured out a way to make the explosions louder without breaking/distorting them. All explosions, cannons, rockets, mortars, flak guns, are noticebly louder but not more audible than the guns.
- Everything else is the same.
v2.2
- Used the limiter to limit the high frequencies instead of using a noise reduction and it came out even better. The same quality but smoother on the high end, and it sounds better overall.
- Came up with the idea because though I thought it sounded good in COD2, it didn't sound good in some other games I was testing in, so I went back, and decided to do the same for COD2.
- Everything else is the same, just a quality update.
v2.1
- Went back and reduced the noise reduction to remove only the "hiss" portion of the sounds. Now the detais shine even more, especially in the upper frequencies.
- I've been trying to create and perfect the concept of "Ultra Definition" (a step above high definition) in the past, and this may be it out of coicidence.
- Some gun sounds changed because I thought their real sounds didn't sound powerful enough or blend well with all the other sounds, so I just went back to their previous samples.
v2.0
- Final version, I hope. Some sounds have been changed to their actual counterpart, instead of sampled from a different gun.
- All the sounds have been carefully re-edited and redone. Now it sounds much more like a real firefight, higher quality, and sound more like they fit the game.
- Added more vesatiltiy to the bullet whizby (supersonic crack) sounds. Probably barely noticeable.
- Explosion sounds have been mixed better with debris compared to previous versions.
--------
v1.3
- All the sounds have been re-edited and remastered in the highest quality possible.
v1.2
- All the guns have been once again re-edited, and this time fully remastered in high definition.
v1.1
- All the guns have been re-edited in higher quality (some one told me they sounded weird, so I fixed that).
- Fixed the echoes on the mounted machine guns, and they have slightly better sounding loops.
- Fixed a couple of weapon bugs in the soundalias (for example the flak gun would play the bren sound, now it plays the flak gun sound).
v1.0
- All firearm, cannon, mortar, rocket, explosion, and bullet sounds have been changed to authentic real recorded sounds.
Installation
------------
- Copy & paste or extract the zzz_soundmod.iwd file into your Activision/Call of Duty 2/main folder
Notes
-----
- All sounds were recorded in areas of lots of surroundings, to fit the urban atmosphere of COD2
- DO NOT alter the soundaliases csv files unless you know what you're doing.
- Try with other realism mods to enhance the experience of simulation warfare!

Updated from version 3.0 to version 3.1.
Update is simply a quality update, all that high detailed hiss is mostly removed. Sounds are still "high detail" but they sound a lot more balanced and fit for the game. Everything else is the same, except the quality update.
This should be my final update and standalone sound mod for COD2. Enjoy for what it is.
can you upload a video showing some of the sounds?
Site doesn't let me, that I'm aware of...
is this supported by hctm2?
