Hello Welcome to the page! This mod seeks to create an installer for Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II JKGFXMOD or OpenJKDF2, the Jedi Knight Neural Upscale Texture Pack and the Enhancement Mod for JkGfxMod. The mods are meant to be used all to together to increase the graphics of the Game.
I am super excited to be releasing Jedi Knight Remastered 3.3! This versions major change gives us the OpenJKDF2 as the new backbone of the mod! This unlike the JKGFXMOD, OpenJKDF2 recreates the Jedi Knight Engine into C++ making possible to have Ultra Wide support, in game configuration options and eliminates the Stuttering problems we had with the JKGFXMOD all together! Since it recreates the engine we are now no longer tied to the limitations of the original game Engine!

By: General Tantor Updated 2-17-24 ~ Version 3.3
Welcome to Jedi Knight Remastered! This installation file will install the OpenJKDF2 the Jedi Knight Neural Upscale Texture Pack, varies mods and fixes from blackhawk3d1, Vurt's JK-DF2 Extreme Definition Texture Pack and the Enhancement mod all together in a nice installer! All mods can be downloaded and installed separately if you desire.
3.3 Changes:
3.2 Changes: Updated OpenJKDF2 to v0.9.0 See: Github.com for full change notes.
3.1.1 Changes: Fixed a Texture that was installing in the wrong location. Also Changed to not default to full screen so that way others can have it adjust right to their resolution when changing to full screen. I believe it was defaulting to 1920 x 1080 since I had it in full screen by Default.
3.1 Changes: Updated OpenJKDF2 to v0.8.18 See: Github.com for changes.
Before Installing if you installed 3.0 before or used OpenJKDF2 manually please uninstall the old version first. To uninstall run Uninstaller shortcut on the desktop. Old saves from other versions may or may not work. If it crash start a new game.
Installation
Installing 3.3 of Remastered is a bit different than the last version! In order to install it right you must install the mod to your JK Root Directory! So double click the JediKnightRemasteredv3.3.exe to get started! Once and the installation location you must choose your JK root Directory!

Mods Details:
OpenJKDF2 v0.9.1 | Github.com
OpenJKDF2 is a function-by-function reimplementation of DF2 in C, with 64-bit ports to MacOS and Linux. Files are organized as closely to the original game as possible, based on symbols from the Grim Fandango Remaster Android/Linux/macOS port, as well as scattered assertions from various other games. It also contains the original versions of byacc and flex used for COG script parsing.
After reaching out to Max about the Texture packs he released a version of OpenJKDF2 that actually allows us to implement the "Remastered" Texture packs into this new Engine of the Game! One of the best features about this new engine is it has in game configurations! Unlike the JKGFXMOD (where you had to open the jkgm.json file in order to configure it) for OpenJKDF2 all you have to do is open up the display menu and you have all kinds of options added! You can now even change Field of view and Limit the Frame Rate from this menu and it doesn't require extra Exe files or separate third party programs! Check out the screen shot below showing all the amazing features that the Mod has in the menu!
Vurt's JK-DF2 Extreme Definition Texture Pack See Version 1.1b
Nexusmods.com
This mod currently contains around 720 new textures for the game, basically overhauling almost the entire game apart from some of the smaller details where graphics aren't as noticeable.
Mods and fixes from blackhawk3d1: Moddb.com
1) HD Switches & More: Moddb.com
This updates common switches and other textures to use high definition AI-upscaled textures. The whole reason for this was that I wanted the alien switch to look sharper, and got carried away.
2) Weegee Model Fix for Jedi Knight Remastered 3.2: Moddb.com
This is a fix that will make Weegee render correctly by providing the JKGFXEXT1 textures in .mat format in a single .gob file.
3) Kyle Katarn HD Textures / Fixes Pack for Jedi Knight Remastered: Moddb.com
This updates Kyle Katarn's 3d model textures, as provided in the excellent Jedi Knight Remastered mod. Only used one version of the kyle updates so if you wish to have a different version of kyle download the mod and check it out.
EMJK - Enhancement Mod for JkGfxMod (JK Edition) 1.0 [FINAL FGR VERSION]
Moddb.com
Features higher detail models from JKE and the JK community in addition to readjusted lightsabers, muzzle flashes and Explosions.
Jedi Knight Neural Upscale Texture Pack
Moddb.com
This is a replacement texture pack for Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. These textures were upscaled using ESRGAN and a custom model. This texture pack is intended for use by mod authors as a base for their own high-resolution retexture projects. Although this texture pack is usable without further changes, the textures in this pack are quite raw. Most of them have artifacts from the upscaling process, which in a complete effort should be manually removed by an artist.
Authors MAY use this mod as a base to build additional mods provided that you give proper credit.

This is a marvellous release, top job but but but .....for me it`s nearly unplayable due to the mouse issue this game has since it was released. Can anyone fix this uncontrollable mouse movement

The unctrollable mouse is way more effective than in the 2.0 Remaster and makes the 3.0 release - as I said - nearly unplayable for me. This is such a shame for this exceptionals release.
I believe there is a fix for this but I have never really had this issue but I do think there is a fix I will look into it but you may check the mouse settings menu to see if there is a setting there that can help. I know you can turn down the sensitivity.
Hey, I just adjusted the mouse sensitivity in the Razer options menue as you suggested but I would be great when it will be adjusted in the game/mod directly. This would be a great benefit because mouse sensitivity is an issue in this game originally as mentioned in several internet posts asking for help. But again you did a hell of a fabulous job with the 3.0 remaster, thanks again! Will there also be a 3.0 remaster of Myteries of the Sith?

How do you change it to 3840 x 2160 4k?
If you change to full screen should adjusted to your resolution. May have to turn off full screen and then turn it back on see if it adjusts right... From there you may need to use the FOV setting to get the right wide screen setting.
I just tried it; automatically adjusts to 2560 x 1440 2k, it won't go to 3840 x 2160 4k...
not sure you will have to troubleshoot or got the OpenJKDF2 issues tab and search there: Github.com
Installed the mod to my original JK folder. The game works nicely by default, but getting laggy when turning on bloom, ssaa or ssao. Also I don't seem to find how to turn on the upscaled textures or the updated lightsaber.
Should be automatically but Bloom is required to see the textures.
Antivirus says it contains "Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.H!ml"
As of version 3.1 the antivirus no longer has any complaints

Gotta say I'm absolutely impressed with the 60 FPS in this new Jedi Knight Remastered game!! I feel thrilled to finally enjoy a Jedi Knight game that feels so smooth to playthrough! I was hoping that Mysteries of the Sith will also have a 3.0 update, maybe also a Bespin Secret Level Special Edition with Darth Vader standing in for Dark Mara and Dark Kyle.
Great work! Just played through it completely.
Only 2 things:
- I had to use a level skip (press t, enter thereisnotry if anyone is curious) at the end of map19-valley of the jedi. The last door with the AT-ST behind it didn't open.
- The mouse sensitivity is also pretty broken in that it is way too sensitive even on lowest setting but I worked around it with my mouse driver settings.
Now I look hopeful forward to a release for Mysteries of the Sith ;)
Ok this for 3.1? or 3.0? Will look into it.

Hello, I am trying to record using your remaster. I have a 3440x1440 monitor so I have to lower the resolution for any game I record to 1920x1080. I see no option to do so in the in-game setup, how do I go about doing that with this mod?
So you are trying to record in full screen? when you click on full screen it should adjust to your resolution. Maybe try to uncheck full screen mode then save then go back in and check full screen mode again and see if it adjusts to the resolution... If that doesnt work check out the OpenJK bug reports here and see if anyone can help you with that: Github.com
Mod is working great for the most part so far, My only real complaint at this moment is: The UV Map for WeeGee's Texture (Mission 4) is massively messed up right now: I.imgur.com
I installed the remaster and it seems to work but none of the high res modules are there. It looks like the original game
Have you checked all those checkboxes in Display menu?
Yeah I'm having the same issue, I have all the required checkboxes ticked in the Display menu yet I still have the original graphics. .-.
Why are the main files force installed on C:\ drive? Let me chose directory!
Do you mean that 1,18 GB in AppData\Roaming\OpenJKDF2? This is the way.
Yeah I don't wanna clutter my Win10 SSD. Just let me chose the directory myself.
Gotta agree, it's absolute nonsense to force an install directory. Many people use separate drives for games so we don't clutter the OS partition.
ESPECIALLY the AppData directory. Nothing should EVER be installed there, that place is for configfiles ONLY.
In this case it also completely clashes with OpenJKDF2, which is cross-platform, but the installer forces a Windows ecosystem.
So the mod works perfectly only if I start a new game, because if I load my saves from before installing this mod it doesn't equip some of the guns, or if I load a save with a gun already equipped the game crashes. Do I really need to start from the beginning? Because I was at the level 15 and would be a shore to do all again. I saved the log in case it helps

SO I just installed the mod today as I have just been wanting to enjoy a nicer quality of this game. It runs fine but I am still only loading the original textures. Following the guide I was never shown the error about the game assets and am now stuck with the old textures.
Help would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Cap
Hello.
This is awesome. One of my favorite games of my childhood. Thankyou.
Could you please tell where I can find the same MOD for Mysteries of the Sith?
I mean Jedi Knight Remastered 3.1.1 based on OpenJKDF2 but for Mysteries of the Sith.
And also in ingame menu "Expansions & Mods" I see "Install mysteries of the sith", what is it for ?
Would it be possible to get this mod as a ZIP instead of an EXE?
As it is right now it can't be installed on Steam Deck / Linux, even with WINE.

Just curious, is it possible to update joystick controls to map U and V analogs (L and R triggers) to weapons in the future? That way we have more console-style controls.
I love this by the way. I play through every few years, but I've been playing all the 90's shooters with an Xbox controller this time around. I may hold off and come back to JK and MotS if this is doable. It's a ton of fun! That being said having the ability to map fire 1 and fire 2 to the R and L triggers respectively would make it perfect!
Thank you for this!

The mod works fine for me. I would like to know, however, if it's possible to change Kyle's model for another character (on single player). I have a mod that replaces Kyle with Boba Fett and I would like to know about the compatibility between this mod and Jedi Knight Remastered. Thanks!
No issue. Just wanted to say thank you and excellent work on this release. The previous version would not work on my PC. This one is balls to the wall fun. Thanks again!
Hi I just installed the mod today. It runs superb but I am still only loading the original textures. Following the guide and your video i was never shown the error about the game assets.
Hello. I am playing though the Mysteries Of the Sith mod which is absolutely superb but I am finding that unlike Jedi Knight I have had no slow down issues, so I was going to come on and email you to see if it was possible to apply the same feature to Jedi Knight only to see that it has been updated. I am excited to try it to see if it remedies the old problem
Hi this is working brilliantly with no slowdown on all settings. Does anybody know if there is a way to access force powers from the start of the game. Thank you
Hello Ive played this and its absolutely brilliant. The way it should be played. i hope that it might be possible to give mysteries of the Sith the same treatment. id love to be able to import the weapons from that into this. Thank you.
Here's my texture pack for this mod:
Nexusmods.com
620 new (not upscaled!) textures for the game (basically retextures the entire game with much higher definition textures).
Hello. I have just applied these textures and they are brilliant. They make a great mod look even better. Thank you for your effort
