Stalker: Dead Air tweaks for those who want an easier hardcore experience.
STALKER: DEAD AIR Tweaks (Can be installed as a whole package, or installed separately):
NOW COMPATIBLE WITH 0.98b. Fully save file compatible unless you want to start with more perks.
I've seen a lot of people struggle with Dead Air, and no surprise as it's a very hardcore mod, and can be very unwelcoming for people who have no experience with Call of Misery/Last Day or MISERY (myself included), so I wanted to share the tweaks I have made to make it a bit easier:
List of tweaks:
- BETTER MEDKITS: Medkits now heal more than 30%, and heal 100% of health, time to heal is not affected. Medkits have been made slightly more affordable
- BETTER STAMINA, CARRY WEIGHT, AND RADS: Character no longer has asthma and can run longer, carry a bit more weight than the usual (default of 10 KG without backpack), and damage from radiation has been halved. People will no longer die from radiation poisoning overnight unless extremely irradiated (more than 300 mSv at full health with an 8 hour sleeping time). 0.98b does stamina a bit differently, so I have raised the max weight (after this weight, you will not be able to move due to being overencumbered, to 25 rather than the default 20).
- CHEAPER PERKS AND LOADOUTS: Perks and Loadout cost have been reduced, while you can't load up with everything at the start, you can chose to go into the zone with better equipment and decent perks (Because nobody really walks into the zone without preparation)
- EASIER TRADERS: Sidorovich now sells a sleeping bag that you can use to sleep anywhere. Trade Discount file has been edited so that past 9 weeks in the zone, trade is still somewhat valuable (a much more gradual increase in prices per week, and a gradual decline in selling value). NO TRADE PRICE DECREASE is also available in the files (Optional Tweaks)
- FAST TRAVEL: The vast zone makes for a great hike but not if you're lugging around 50kg worth of dead mutants. Now integrated with More Fast Travel Locations by Yarmoshuk. Fallout style fast-travel using your PDA markers to right click.
- HEALTHIER FOOD AND DRINKS: Mutant meat damage to health has been reduced greatly, as well as radiation taken from eating them. Alcoholic beverages now remove much more radiation as well. Fireplace Cooking Kit can now be used indefinitely (I'm assuming you just spear the meat on a stick and roast it over the fire, don't know why you can't use it more than once). KNOWN ISSUE: Cooking Kit will keep cloning itself if player attempts to use it far from fireplace. This is an issue with the item itself as it would despawn and respawn when used properly, but if used away from fireplace, will not despawn and just respawn a clone over and over. Just use it near fireplaces always, or throw away duplicates (or just cheat and get infinite amounts of stuff to sell, it's your game)
- LONGER LASTING SHOTGUNS AND SNIPERS: Shotguns and Sniper rifles now degrade as fast assault rifles. In Vanilla, they would usually degrade much faster.
Feedback is welcome, but before anyone decides to mock the easier tweaks, the entire point of modding is to alter the game to your liking. I understand Dead Air's appeal to hard-core players, but many similar tweaks exist for players' enjoyment in other hard-core mods.

Can you make a tweak to disable the brain scorcher and history on start up? and maybe azazel mode?
I'm not so certain if I am capable of doing it.
This mod Moddb.com may not be used in Dead Air, since the section relating to the Brain Scorcher is no longer where it was. Simply put, the script that affects the Brain Scorcher in CoC is different from the one in Dead Air.
As for Azazel mode, not sure either. This mod always forces everyone to play as a Loner, and I have not seen any faction joining, so dying and playing as other characters in the zone may not be as polished yet.
there's a mod to start as any faction now, seems to work okay. I need that azazel mode tho
Can you separate Better Stamina and Carry Weight from Rads? I'm ok with radiation don't need to halve it, but I can make use of the other.

Can you please re-enable beds with this mod? I think its extremely non-fun design to remove the beds and then put the player in a hardcore experience where its hard to make money and finds stuff while being miles away from anywhere to sleep.
No i'm not going to turn sleep deprivation off, I want it to be part of my experience because it makes sense, you know what doesn't make sense?
Some ******* thought it would be a funny joke to not give you a sleeping bag and instead chose to give you a bed spread which DOESN'T ACTUALLY LET YOU SLEEP ITS JUST A PASSIVE BONUS NO ONE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD CARES ABOUT.
I'm not quite sure if I can, I believe beds in game were tied to the map objects.
I agree though, it's hard to believe anyone would get angry at you if you sleep in another Stalker's bed, most of them sleep in front of a campfire anyway.
Funnily enough, Bedspread does let you sleep though. You just need to use it in front of the Campfire. I think Sidirovich mentions it. Vaguely. Once. If you ask him about it. At the very start of the game.
TLDR: Bedspread fine, but needs a better description so players don't have to google how to use it.

Fast travel works similar to Fallout, you can only fast travel to places you've visited. Tested and works with Rostok and the Clear Sky base.

Where exactly is fast travel point in swamp? I'm in Clear Sky base looking everywhere and can't find it.
It should be in the middle of the Clear Sky base, have you tried saving and reloading? Regular CoC would have the problem that you need to save and reload before the fast travel point appears.
It still doesn't work. Is there a way to enable all point in files?

Hey very nice work, I am only using certain aspects of this but everything seems a bigimprovement :). Can I ask how bad the price increases end up being? I'm gonna add the easier traders now after reading about 'price increases' but I wish there was a way to stop increases altogether.
Vanilla, Trader buying from you would drop to anywhere between 1/3rd-2/3rds of the original value after 9 weeks. (That means traders will buy your stuff for much much less). Selling price would essentially double (Purchasing stuff from traders would be twice from the start.

I think your addon is the most "respectful" with Dead Air, still mantains the general idea, another addons I saw just break the "Dead Air" thing, so maybe worth to implement as really simple/optional with like 10 new perks.
For the new perks I'm not quite sure how to edit the files, I know only how to add new equipment packs, but not perks.
Option one is in another addon: Moddb.com Specifically, the items_drink.ltx file. Be aware it isn't compatible with this addon's items_drink.ltx, but I could share a compatible version
Option two is already my own add-on, I posted that separately as I thought others would want it separate from my tweaks. It's completely compatible with Easier Tweaks.
Option three is already separate, there's a BETTER STAMINA and CARRY WEIGHT only option here (Radiation is untouched):

Appreciate the feedback, I was thinking of adding weapons to traders but would take a much longer time testing the balance, and other modders already have add-ons with stuff like that. I just wanted a slightly fairer game, still keeping the Misery experience, but not curb stomping you into submission.
Do you know how to turn down the NPC bleeding effect. Many of those cannot bandage themselves?
I know it has something to do with configs/creatures/m_stalker.ltx, but I'm not 100% sure on how to approach it
Previously, there was an addon posted that changed AI vision and bleeding, but it seems to have been deleted

I've had the same issue, all i had to do is to remove the tweak which touches the actor.ltx file, works fine now.
System.ltx, actor.ltx, weapons are currently not working with the patch. I'll update soon
