Mod DB Newsletter

For the past 2 months, we asked you the players to vote for your favourite mods and indie games. 133,000 gamers stamped their feet and did just that, and now the results are in. Before I present the winners, please thank and support the sponsors, who are all donating prizes to the winning teams.

Natural Selection 2 pits elite marine Frontiersmen vs the vicious alien Kharaa. Marines buy weaponry and form persistent squads to find and destroy alien hives. Aliens can choose a wall-running Skulk, pudgy Gorge, flying Lerk, murderous Fade or gigantic Onos that can devour enemies whole.

MechWarrior: Living Legends mixes FPS and Simulation gameplay to create a massively multiplayer gaming experience where the player takes part in a battle using a variety of vehicles and weapons MWLL is using the concepts pioneered by the "Battlefield" franchise and more recently Crysis.

Us editors tend not to agree with the players choice, so we threw together some award categories, played all of the years new titles, and here are our picks:

A Reckless Disregard for Gravity is loosely based on the sport of base-jumping. You gain points by swooping within an eyelash of buildings, scoring extra points by kissing the surface, all while going as fast as you can! You can score extra points giving a thumbs-up to spectators as you fall past them or be a rebel and gain points by flipping them off at just the right moment.

MechWarrior: Living Legends is a total conversion mod for Crysis. MWLL is at its very core a mix between a First Person Shooter and a Simulation. This will be achieved through the use of a mixed arms massively multiplayer gaming experience where the player takes part in a battle using a variety of vehicles and weapons.

Best Singleplayer Mod
The Nameless Mod is set in Forum City, the physical embodiment of Internet forums and bulletin boards. Embracing the style of Deus Ex, Forum City has as much crime and conspiracy which JC Denton must overcome. This would be easy if it weren't for the citizens, who want it no other way.
