Have you ever dreamt about playing the old, forgotten S.T.A.L.K.E.R. ?

We were amazed by GSC's work when they released the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. screenshots in 2002. The old design, and atmosphere was stunning and we couldn't believe our eyes. Later in 2005 things has changed. They redesigned almost all old levels. Some of them became smaller, simpler (still nice, but different), and some levels were removed. After the release in 2007 we played the game a lot, and quickly noticed that some areas are missing. We opened forums, and talked countless nights about those for almost a year. Nowdays we could say, we have a full vision about GSC's old levels, due to the collected materials, videos and forgotten screenshots. We decided to remake those stunning areas, maybe they won't be the same, but we will try everything to make them look really nice, as we always wanted to see them. In early 2009, GSC released a build from 2004, which contained many old materials. We used some of the sdk objects for the level remakes, but adjusted (and bugfixed) them for our liking, also we didn't throw out our own levels. So expect to see our own Darkscape, Dead City, Rostok Factory and some more in Lost Alpha :)

Also need to say, Lost Alpha addon is not just about levels and levels. We will try to make a somewhat, but not fully restricted alife, and deliver a lot of new, never seen features, among with some old ones, which many people wanted to see for long. If you are interested in, check the Features menu for FAQ, Interview, Features List, and many more. Also do not forget to check the gallery, and the movies. All comments are welcome, also we are glad to see suggestions too, however at this stage those won't be considered.
Thanks for your understanding!

Finally, we would like to thank to the old Stalker Team this wonderful game. Without them, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. wouldn't be a "dream-game". Big respect to: Glory, Karma, Lex, Prof, Rainbow, Frodo, Dach, Koan, Mike, Jip, Jim, Jon, Yuriy, Terazoid, Tuz, Haron, Stohe, alexmx, chugai, Oles, Zmey, Iov, Sidorovich, CyLLlKA, dandy, Descruo, dima, Olga, LeSTAT, MadMax, Man0waR, Chapaev, Cy27-dw, Shyshkin, Narrator, Rolik, Atem, Yava, and many many more :)

Lost Alpha Clarification.

I am a lurker on other STALKER sites, reddit, discord etc. I still find confusion or misinformed posts about LA in its current state (DC and LAR). Hopefully this pinned post will help clear some points up.

One of the main points of confusion seems to be the story still. The illuminati part of the story and their cutscenes were removed in DC and LAR (Lost Alpha Revisited). Some were first removed in DC (1.4007) when it was released, in 2018. DC also removed the entire dream sequence in x16 so it plays as it did in SOC now. There was a "storyline changes" mod available in the launcher that got rid of others as well, but it is no longer there. However, it is integrated in LAR.

In LAR (Moddb.com) I removed the remaining cutscenes I felt did not belong. They still alluded to the illuminati story or did not make sense. Check the full patch notes pastebin link in LAR's description for more information.

Overall, the main story in DC and LAR is basically the same as SOC now. There are some people who enjoy earlier versions of LA though, in that case, the illuminati story is still intact.

Please read the below article for a little more info on the three versions of LA if you wish (note: I do not support DCE, nor was involved in it, the link below explains who was involved in DCE).

So... at page 47 someone named blackflagx seemes to have found a way to enable the dev mode, these are his 2 comments: "Ok I found a solution without Lost Alpha configurator. Just move all the settings from bin(s) to the default installation folder and you cal launch lost Alpha by using it's exe file. Also delete all the files that is used by configurator. A couple of .ini files on the default folder. "

And this one: "Thanks, with latest configurators it didn't work with -dev either. So I deleted the configurator executable, it's ini files and moved the bin folder to the default. Now -developer mode works without issues with XR_3DA.exe. Mods working also. I only use the default installations mods, no need for more. "

Can you tell me what are the 'settings' files he moved from the bins folder or the other bin file that he says he moved in his second comment are?

I am not sure what settings they are talking about. But it seems like the are bypassing the launcher, in which I have instructions how to do so in the LAR patch notes. I would think it does the same thing.

So if i unpack the gamedata folder to a random folder, and then take only xr_effects file from there and place it on the game's script folder and modify the skill point reward will it save the changes that way or will it be overwritten by the packed gamedata folder in the games main directory?

Ya, unpack, then find the xr_effects script from the unpacked files, make a copy of it. You will always move or edit the copy, thus keeping the original file in its place. So if you ever need to go back to the original file, it is easy to find.

If using vanilla DC, then you would need to create a gamedata folder and then inside that a scripts folder. Then place the file into the scripts folder and edit away. Dont forget to rename to "xr_effects.script" as it will have the word copy in it.

If using LAR, then place it in the gamedata/scripts folder already there.

Double check that "fsgame.ltx" in the root dir. is set to game_data, true | true on that line. If one of them is set to false, change to true. This is what allows the gamedata folder to override the packed db files.

** Just as a side note, reminder that I mentioned in theory I think this should work. If it does not, then there is probably some other files that would need edited.

Below are the only lines that contain the skill word in them in xr_effects.
What do i edit so i can receive 4 skill points as reward?

function take_ros_key(actor, npc)
local obj = db.actor:object("ros_lab_key")
alife():release(alife():object(obj:id()), true)
end

function add_skill_points(actor, npc, p)
local points = p[1] or 1
if pdaSkills then
pdaSkills.add_points_amount(points)
end
end

function add_skill_point(actor, npc)
if pdaSkills then
pdaSkills.add_points_amount(1)
end
end

function add_10_skill_points(actor, npc)
if pdaSkills then
pdaSkills.add_points_amount(10)

The three instances of the single number one, can be changed to whatever you want.

This line: local points = p[1] or 1
and: pdaSkills.add_points_amount(1)

The first time you get skill points then should be whatever you changed it to. If it still shows a 1 there, then there is another place, or something else that would need changed.

They all need to be changed to the same number correct?
And btw is the knife pack mod compatible with LAR?

Also thanks

Yes, all changed to same #.

Knife pack, I thought needed PRM installed, so no if so. If it doesn't, I am pretty sure it still wont work though.

what is the difference between LBs Comp + PRM Merge from stachelhaut and LAR?

Are there any big differences between the 2?

The differences are stated in the description of LAR/patch notes.

TLDR version though... It adds the revised/fixed Duty quest and a few other things.

so the enhanced duty fork and the new stalker network chat between stalkers is not included in stachelnauts comp?

His addon is to make PRM weapons pack work with the previous version of LAR (which is my comp), that's it.

EDIT: I forgot he included my comp in it, so ya it wont have the Duty quest fork changes for sure. I think the artifact changes and news network are not in there either, but could be wrong.
