Lost Alpha Clarification.
I am a lurker on other STALKER sites, reddit, discord etc. I still find confusion or misinformed posts about LA in its current state (DC and LAR). Hopefully this pinned post will help clear some points up.
One of the main points of confusion seems to be the story still. The illuminati part of the story and their cutscenes were removed in DC and LAR (Lost Alpha Revisited). Some were first removed in DC (1.4007) when it was released, in 2018. DC also removed the entire dream sequence in x16 so it plays as it did in SOC now. There was a "storyline changes" mod available in the launcher that got rid of others as well, but it is no longer there. However, it is integrated in LAR.
In LAR (Moddb.com) I removed the remaining cutscenes I felt did not belong. They still alluded to the illuminati story or did not make sense. Check the full patch notes pastebin link in LAR's description for more information.
Overall, the main story in DC and LAR is basically the same as SOC now. There are some people who enjoy earlier versions of LA though, in that case, the illuminati story is still intact.
Please read the below article for a little more info on the three versions of LA if you wish (note: I do not support DCE, nor was involved in it, the link below explains who was involved in DCE).
STALKER Lost Alpha: Revisited is released.........
With the announcement of STALKER 2 I see more traffic here, so I wanted to give a quick guideline on the different LA DC versions.
There is a new version of LA out (DC Extended). Check out the details below for more information.
STALKER LOST ALPHA: REVISTED (LAR), is formally known as "LB's Comp." LAR combines ALL of my previous mimimod/comp updates along with the revised Duty...

Thanks for your respond, so there is no other solution for the controller! And was the minimap supposed to be removed in the mod revisited? Because I don't have a minimap after the clean install mod?!only the clock ui is there!
Check the pastebin patch notes in LAR's description. How to get minimap back is there.
I think your dedication is unmatched and should be noted more often. Respect!
Hi LB and Thanks a lot for your hard working!
I use MOD CONTROLLER FIX but the game still crashes! I am sure that I copied the FILE game_realation.ltx to the correct path "gamedata/config/creatures" what should I do?
Hi,
So I presume you are crashing near a controller then? That is the only "fix" I know of. I have actually never had a controller crash, so I am not sure as to other reasons.
Only other thing I can think of in game wise, is to pick off the controller from far away if possible. Or try to go way around them, until something else kills it by chance.
I hope LAR can have more plug-ins to provide a better experience. I'm already stuck in this world and can't extricate myself.
Of course, with such a large map and a long story, I am still a little disappointed that the arsenal only has a few more guns than COP, although this is not an "Anomaly". But I wish there were more weaponry to support the long exploration and combat, I have used an SG550 and SPAS12 from start to finish, and really wish there were better shotguns and assault rifles available.
Where are you stuck? Have you checked the regular LA wiki for help if not crash related?
Haha, that's just a way of describing it, it means I love this mod and the world atmosphere so much that I put my down time into it almost every day. As for the process, don’t worry. I’m checking the WIKI now and take my time. At least there are solutions....
Ah, understood. I am glad you are enjoying it!
is there a console command to add skill points?
Nope, but you could change the amount rewarded if you really wanted to. You would need to unpack the files, then look for "xr_effects.script" in the scripts folder.
Search for the keyword "skill." Then play around with the point distribution qty. There are some instances of 1 in there, try changing those 1's to 2's and see what happens. A new game may be required to see the changes.
You would not want to change it to a large #, or a # that may go over the cap though. I am actually not sure what the cap is, but if you go over, I have no doubt it would crash.
this command here works on plain DC if the developer mode is active:"run_string pdaSkills.add_points_amount(value)"
But the run_string does not work without developer mode, so is there any other way i can make it work? Or make the run_string workas a console command without developer mode?
Not sure sorry, but I do not think so.
What are trying to do? Just edit the actor ltx if you want faster run speed, or more carry weight, etc... if that is what you are trying to do.
Well...i just wanted to be able to use dev mode to add skill points
manually with the console command above when i complete other missions that dont give skill points so i can have a sense of faster progression... and then finding more stashes etc, but i cant find anyone who has solved the mystery on why dev mode doesnt work on LAR, my guess is its the new configurator from DCE but i cant fix that one unfortunately.
Just to make sure on same page, as it is not my doing. I have no programming capability to even begin to tinker with how the dev mode works. Unless it has something to do with the updated bins or configurator as you mention, but I really have no idea as I did not create them.
See if you can get the dev mode working through bypassing the configurator. Instructions to do so are in the LAR patch notes.
Well if nothing works i might edit the amount of points rewarded in each mission as you told me, does that need a new game a 100%?
And can i add it at least up to 4 points for each mission?
If you did not hit the first time points are awarded (I think after fox?) then you may not need to start a new game. You will have to test it yourself, in theory I think replacing those 1's with another #, 4 in your case, should work.
I do not know the repercussions of how it would affect later game though. If there was some kind of cap built in, or some other unforeseen issue. My guess is it will just crash, but there will be no turning back and you would need to start a new game and revert back to the original file.
Btw there is no xr_effects.script in the scripts folder, where can i find it to edit it?
If it is not there (gamedata\scripts), then you did not fully extract the db's. Ensure to extract the two db's in the root dir as well.
I did a complete reinstall following the instructions of lar to the letter, i used 7zip for the extraction, the only files in gamedata/scripts that start from xr are xr_conditions, xr_garmon, xr_giditara, xr_racya.
Either im an idiot and i missed something, or its not supposed to be there, but the game works and runs fine(LAR)
The bin files that i extracted are in the bins folder and i placed them in the bins folder and the other one that goes in the mods folder. Not sure what 2 bins you mean.
Sorry, I meant db's not bins, my fault... I updated previous post as well.
You need to unpack the db's with an unpacker. The db files are the main file "containers" that have ALL of the game files. There are 2 in the root dir named "gamedata" db0 and db1. Then there are 14 others in the gamedata dir. as well.
Unfortunately im no expert with this kind of software and i suppose its not worth it going to this kind of trouble just to edit some files.
I guess ill enjoy the game as is but thank you anyway for helping me the past 2 days. If i need anything else ill let you know.
You're welcome, hopefully you have a smooth play through. Just a reminder there are some other tips/workarounds in the LAR patch notes, so you can always check there as well first.
