The playstation game Vagrant Story was amazingly unique and professional. Its story was spectacular, its gameplay perfect, its graphics amazing (especially for the playstation).
I really liked the idea it used for battles, and decided to try to replicate it in Quake. Basically, when the player decides to attack, everything around him pauses, and a gridded circle expands to show his attack range. When he selects an enemy, things remain frozen, except he attacks the enemy and the enemy rears back from the blow.
If the player hits the button at just the right time during the attack, he'll do a second attack, called a chain move. He can keep on doing this until he mis-times the next attack.
When the attack is over, or the enemy dies, the rest of the game unfreezes and the player and enemies are able to continue on as normal.
The same system happens when an enemy attacks a player, but the enemy cannot do chain attacks.

As far as the mod goes, I have the game pausing and the player doing chain attacks. It's actually working perfectly in that respect.
Unfortunately, the pausing code doesn't like doors and triggers and never fails to mess them up when unpausing. Also, when I try to use the pause code to allow enemies to attack, it screws up and never unpauses.
So, the mod has hit a bit of a snag. The pausing works just fine in the hands of the player, when used only on monsters and other such entities. But the errors are hard to fix and I likely won't continue this mod unless sufficient interest is shown in it.

how to load this?
yeah
I give up again. I'm too busy and it's not working.
If only I could get some help...
I've been manually fixing things myself, since there's no hope of getting help from Lurker.
BSP models are so frigg'n annoying to work with. They have all kinds of hidden bugs just waiting to surface if you dare every try to do anything with them.
In other words, help would be appreciated. :)
Has anyone contacted him?
That's him. He's not replied to my e-mails. I wonder if he's never gotten them or just ignoring me. If you see him, please let him know I'm trying to contact him about vagrant story.
If he wants nothing to do with me for some reason (I can't imagine why), then I'll stop bothering him.
He was recently on the inside3d forums.. And I saw him on IRC under some other name...
lurker @ yourhouse dot com ?
I'm trying to find Lurker, because he fixed my code and e-mailed me, but then when I tried to send an e-mail of thanks, the return address was invalid. :(
And I also need to get the code from him. :)
Lurker, you there?
Sounds interesting. I had a lot of fun with VS and always thought they should have done more with it.
