This is the initial release of x4 texture upscale for Doom 3.
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Unpack the archive into the game folder
2) Open your game config file (base/DoomConfig.cfg), then find and edit these lines:

Or you can back up and replace the DoomConfig.cfg file with the one provided in GG41 folder.
If you use dhewm3, change the dhewm.cfg file instead. In Windows, its located in folder Documents\My Games\dhewm3\base

Unfortunately it does not work on the android port idTech4A++ You don't know the reason for this? There is also a version of AI textures Moddb.com and there are no problems with installation
no idea, i haven't played that port
did you change the config file as instructed? maybe the port has its own config file somewhere like dhewm3?
I looked at the log and see that the game reads the mod files and there are no errors associated with this. I also checked that all the commands from DoomConfig that you specified were enabled and in their place, but the old textures simply remain in the game
Don't know much about "IdTech4A++", but did you try changing "DoomConfig" to "Autoexec"? In the past, there was a Doom 3 mod that I had to change the "doomconfig.cfg" to "autoexec.cfg" in order to get its features working in-game. Don't know if this is helpful. Just thought I'd suggest a solution that has worked for me.
I duplicated the commands in both DoomConfig and Autoexec and unfortunately it doesn’t work. At first I thought that idTech4A++ resets DoomConfig but I already checked several times and nothing works
It might be possible that:
seta image_usePrecompressedTextures "1"
And
seta image_useNormalCompression "2"
Could be causing the upscaled textures to not show up.
When it came to HD texture packs for Doom 3, I always had issues with "usePrecomressedTextures" set to "1". Maybe try setting that command to "0".
If it still doesn't work, try setting "useNormalCompression" to "0" as well.
Maybe that method will work. Hope this is helpful.
it will cause the game to load vanilla tga files
my textures are all dds so it won't work
Sorry about that. I assumed you were using TGA format. You must have used some nifty upscaling tech to be using DDS format & still have a 4.29gb file size.
No offense intended. More of a compliment, really.
dds files are smaller than tga and they use less memory but they have lower quality because of compression
tga x4 wouldn't work because x4 tga would be to big for doom3 engine to handle
the config edit is required to make the game load dds files only
If final level does not load then open s_GG41_env_lights.pk4 as archive, unpack env/hellsky2_down.tga, rename it hellsky2_up.tga and put it back in.
I will fix this in next update.
