A.R.E.A. is a standalone project based on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy. The project affects all aspects of the game with no exceptions, improving their quality and diversity. The main goal was to create a more realistic Exclusion Zone, where each trip will be a unique and rough experience.

1. Download S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - A.R.E.A. 1.1642, unpack where you wish.
2. Run S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - A.R.E.A.part1.exe, specify the installing location and click Extract.
3. Download in A.R.E.A. root directory latest update, run and press Extract, replace all files.
4. Run game from desktop icon or from A.R.E.A. Launcher from game folder.

I've been having some weird issues with shadows in interiors, for example those buildings around Cordon. I've not modded stalker myself yet, so not sure why shadows are all messed up and very low res. I've tried every (and I mean every) possible graphics settings and still no solution. Is it cause of the baked lighting or smth? Here's an example: Imgur.com

This is a problem of two locations of the cordon and landfalls, can all say thank you to the author of these locations "ml 7.2" in order to fix it, need to replace these locations with others or decompile these and then compile with the correct shadow settings, maybe there will be time we will come up with something.

Ok the mods not stable that's for sure but it has a cheat menu and I'm pretty sure you can deactivate "DOF" which will take the blurry vision away

the game crashes and when i enter again and load the game npcs and mutants appear that were not there before
that doesn't have to be a feature of A.R.E.A. - the same stuff (but without crashes, reloading few times may be the cause too) appears in vanilla Call of Chernobyl (on which AREA is based), quick-load your last save due to dying 3-5 times and either a single enemy may appear, sometimes a whole squad - or if saved in line of sight of an enemy squad, this can disappear...
black screen after i installed this game

Really great mod thank you AREA team. For some reason after opening the game up for the third time, I just get a black screen. I've tried running it as admin, uninstall/reinstall in different folders. You think it is a firewall issue? Thank you!

Great update, AREA has been one of my favorite mods for a while now. So far I've only ran into 2 issues. 1 being that the orange medkits don't have a texture in the use animation, and when I start the game the world seems really really empty. No mutants and very few stalkers roaming. Is there a way to fix that?

Is it a me issue that a lot of the items have broken names and missing descriptions? Same for a couple missions, too. If it's a broad issue is this going to be addressed in a future update?

Can anyone explain to me why there is still no water being sold at the Swamps or Cordon by any trader?!!?!?
I always thought this was an oversight in prev versions.
This is just a little idiotic, specially since they are start areas. Its stupid on several levels.
1: (REALISM) if no water is available how the hell are all the stalkers in the area wandering around and operating like well hydrated people??
2: (DESIGN) Its pretty silly design to have a crucial survival resource utterly unavailable on maps where start spawns are located. Essentially it creates a slow death zone. Not like you can just pop over to the next map to get water either both maps are 3 and 2 maps away from available water.......
I started with 2 plastic bottles of water, lasted the day in the swamp so now what??
Are we expected to just run to the Bar as fast as possible as this seems to be the only choice. If so thats a pretty silly setup situation.
Kind of destroys player agency.
You can refill plastic bottles at the following locations:
1. Swamps ( At the watch tower near the Clear Sky base)
2. Bar (Barman)
3. Yantar (Sakharov)
4. Dark Valley (Bandit base)
5. Jupiter (Scientist Lab)
- You better make a one time run & fill your backpack with as many water bottles as possible and return to your base and stash em so you won't have to make a trip every once in a while just to refill 2 bottles.

Am kinda confused since all the "refill" bottle options i have seen previously involve a trader .... who is the NPC to get water from in swamps?

was sure i tried all service NPC's in CS base.
one last question how to access the debug menu, as its back in the mod isn't it, not my usual tactic but am just gonna spawn in some water. Stupid design deserves stupid solutions IMHO

I think in latest version you can't access it. But there is an addon called 'My personal gamedata' and if you read the instructions you will probably manage to find a way to activate it. I haven't got any experience with debug menus so you are on your own on this one.
On swamps at pump station. Also you can buy as much as you want before starting your trip. You can consider this an stupid design, but I consider I gave to player a lot of cheap, clean water, considering this is the Zone, not a mall, and water it not the only liquad player can drink to decrease his thirst.
