BEFORE INSTALLATION, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE v1.3 OF RACE DRIVER: GRID INSTALLED!!! NOTE: If you bought the game on Steam, you do NOT need to install v1.3 - it will have already been automatically installed by Steam.

INSTALLATION
========
- Download the Steam version of the game or otherwise acquire v1.3
- Important!! Make a backup of the original game files.
- Copy my files into the root directory of the game, overwriting the conflicts.
- For my computer this is %HOMEPATH%\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Grid

Highly recommended to open the following file in Notepad or VSCode:
%HOMEPATH%\Documents\Codemasters\GRID\hardwaresettings\hardware_settings_config.xml
Then find this line:
<postprocess enabled="true" blur="true" />
And replace it with this line:
<postprocess enabled="false" blur="false" />
Optionally also replace fullscreen="true" with fullscreen="false" to enable Windowed Mode (allows Alt+Tab'ing out of the game).
I get better fps with fullscreen set to true.

Thank you to anyone who downloads this Mod and leaves a comment on moddb.com! I first posted my Broski mod in 2011 and now 12 years later I'm back for an update. This is one of the best racing games of all time in my opinion. I'm super happy to see the mod community continue after all these years.
I've strived for stability and integrity with my modification pack. Rather than going afield and releasing
something without testing, I've gone through career mode twice and ensured there's no game-breaking bugs. I tried the Xtra v2.2 Mod but was unable to get it to work. My game kept crashing at the loading screens even after I downloaded and installed the vanilla DLC 8 Ball and Prestige mods. I also tried installing Xtra v2.2 vanilla and extracting only the V8 Supercars from it. All attempts: No dice.
I'm using the Steam version of this game. All I need to do is download from Steam and copy my files over,
rewriting the existing ones. Nothing more! Simple as possible in my opinion. This Mod is not tested with
others. Most other mods that adjust the Career Mode will not work since they overwrite the `database.bin`
file. Feel free to contact me at gglightning@gmail.com or here on ModDB. If you do endeavour an extension
of this mod via additional cars in Career Events or bundle it with another, please reach out! I'd love to
see what any of you do with my work. Feel free to use it however you see fit.

FUTURE UPDATES (maybe)

- Standardise by trial-and-error all (more?) Le Mans 24h and Le Mans Series grids to 20 cars (/database/database.bin -> `lemans_restrictions`)
- Darken Pontiac Firebird's window netting
- Adjust performance of other cars
- Add DLC cars to Career Events (help?)
- --> This would require quite a bit of trial-and-error to ensure any additional cars don't break the game balance. I may do that in a future update or maybe never. I tried summing the databases but the DLC cars don't show. For anyone that would want to attempt, I included a summed database in the /database/SUMMED folder
- V8 Supercars (Ford & Holden) are imported *except* for the /database/database.bin -> `free_race_restrictions`
- --> For the life of me I cannot get them to actually work and not crash the game. I've tried adding them to Pro Muscle in the `free_race_restrictions` and also making a unique category for the V8 Supercars. Neither works as both crash the game before reaching the main menu.
This link also crashes my game. Tried on a vanilla install but no luck.

KNOWN ISSUES
========
- At the start of a new Free Race, sometimes the Do Not Enter sign appears briefly.
- Upon restarting a Free Race, the grid lines up single-file (instead of double-file).
- Positions 15-20 is often bunched up at the (re)start of a Free Race.
- 911 GT3 User livery doesn't have the sponsor logos placed quite correctly.
- --> As this is from Xtra v2.2, I'd recommend contacting them about adjusting the logo placements.
Or go ahead and try and fix them yourself! If you do, I'd love to know so I could give you credit
and include a better version with this overhaul.
- 911 GT3 doesn't have a background icon in Career Mode during car purchase or for the 24h Le Mans selection.
- --> Anyone want to make one for me? :D No idea where it should go. Perhaps one of the .pssg files in /frontend ?
- Trees in the background sometimes disappear or reappear (fade in or fade out).
- --> Again no idea how to fix this one. I've tried increasing the tree visibility in
`~/Documents/Codemasters/GRID/hardwaresettings/hardware_settings_config.xml` but no luck.
- Le Mans 24h races are always 24 minutes long. The settings in Free Race have no effect.
--> I've verified this is an issue in the original base game from my Steam download.
Does anyone know of a fix?
NOTES FOR FUTURE DEVS
========
- 8 car model limit when adding cars (especially easy to hit in Le Mans; remember that the user's car counts)
- Duplicative drivers in Le Mans will duplicate the first car model
- Duplicative liveries in Le Mans will overwrite the team name or car model name and report "<db_>"
- Not all car models were eligible for 20-car fields in Le Mans due to some unknown restriction
- Most of the 20-car Le Mans fields are the result of many hours of trial-and-error
- Adding DLC cars to Career Events is very difficult due to the inability to cross-link any database files
- --> As stated above, I tried summing the databases but then the DLC cars don't appear at all.
- `free_race_track_pool` sometimes errors out and refuses to load the game if there are too many entries or the entires are in an order the game engine dislikes
- Maximum of 19 car models allowed for any particular `free_race_discipline_id`
- --> Trying to add a 20th unique car model to any discipline appears to crash the game even if there's only 7 unique models per `lemans_restriction`s
- Maximum of 19 other cars allowed (21-car grids crashes the game)

Have had a couple crashes so far, nothing too serious. Mainly after a couple races in Grid World Club GT class, and after applying sponsors, twice.
Huh, strange. Two possibilities: Save game is interacting with the database.bin in an unexpected manner or your base game files are different. You could try a new Profile/Save and see what happens. That's what I've done twice now without any crashes.
My base game is from Steam. From where did you originally download the base game?
Base game is from Steam as well. I started a new save when I reinstalled the mod update, once on 2.0 and once on 2.1.
I will try fresh install by deleting everything and reinstalling.
Here's my original files (Uninstall Files). Then just overwrite the ones in that directory with the v2.0 or v2.1. Drive.google.com
Unrelated, I found a bug with Gareth Thomas' flag so I'm trying to get that to show up on-track.
Thanks, I used the uninstall files and it worked perfectly. Got to the 3rd Ravenwest showdown, no crashes so far.
Had to say something, crashed just 1 race after posting this. Applying a sponsor decal crashed my game. Weirdly enough, applying the same sponsor decals after relaunching the game didn't crash. I'm stumped
I've had that bug as well. Had it in the vanilla game on multiple decals though so I think that's an issue with the underlying game. Do you know of any way to check the version of the game files?
Other than using the Properties menu, no, nothing comes to mind. Unless the individual checksums of each file are listed somewhere and sorted by game version, in which case you can just match the checksums against the database.
I'm going to try some compatibility settings, i.e. run the game in windows XP mode, and report back
Everytime I try to race with the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR with the custom livery in the 24hs of Le Mans the game crashes while loading the race, both in Grid World and Race Day, I tried a clean install and new save, the game still crashes, but if I use a normal livery the race loads normally.
Good to know. I haven't had that issue as I'm able to use the custom livery in both Grid World and Race Day. Are you using the Steam version of the game?

I removed my Steam version of this game, and I deeply regret it ;(
P.S. The ZOOM version is never lost. It's completely DRM-free, though.
Is it possible to disable Driver rankings reset after every season or it's hardcoded in the game? Because I would love to see teammate like Tom Rockford progress trough my career alongside with me.
Would love to see bit more challenge from AI too haha

Entering first season Le Mans with Porsche crashes the game.
Entering with Skyline it adds random AI with Mustangs, Hondas etc.
Entering with Spyker it adds default AI drivers
P.S I have steam version of the game and If you need any beta testers just tell me hehe.
