Outlast 2 is the sequel to the acclaimed survival horror game Outlast. Set in the same universe as the first game, but with different characters and a different setting, Outlast 2 is a twisted new journey into the depths of the human mind and its dark secrets.
No conflict is ever black and white. But once the dust has settled, the victors get to decide who was right and who was wrong. Who is good and who is evil. Human nature pushes us to extremes of violence and depravity, which we then justify by divine inspiration and a promise of paradise to come. Horror rises from desperation and blind faith. OUTLAST 2 will test your faith, pushing players to a place where going mad is the only sane thing to do.

I replayed the original many times but never returned to this one. The fact that they removed chases after relase soured me away too.

Much to my surprise, this actually looks almost interesting. Might even consider getting it. Looks like the sequel has more symbolism and mystery behind it with more varied and colorful environments and better lighting. Hopefully it focuses more on exploration, psychological horror and ambiguous storytelling, because if it's anything like the demo, then it only proves how the developers are unable to branch out.
Judging by the demo the atmosphere and the enemy encounters are very lackluster in the sequel too; the former that fails to make a clichéd setting sinister or immersive and the latter that Outlast never seems to get right, because of how random they are with no build-up or subtlety.
The enemy design is still underwhelming and the reliance on the night-vision is still too heavy; perhaps it's the night-vision's responsibility to do the developers' work for them. Or maybe it'll be the best horror game ever.
