Initially developed and released by Gearbox Software in 2001, second Half-Life add-on, Half-Life: Blue Shift is a return to the Black Mesa Research Facility and another look at the Incident's consequences from the eyes of Gordon Freeman's best friend - Barney Calhoun. In 2012, Crowbar Collective has delighted Half-Life fans with release of the magnificent Half-Life remake, but there are still no released remakes for add-ons. This is when we are coming in - HECU Collective are developing the Black Mesa: Blue Shift - a free remake with use of Black Mesa resources and style. We will try to stay as close to the original Blue Shift and Black Mesa as possible. Our mod will be releasing partially, chapter by chapter, so those who are not patient for the full release will finally have something to play!
The first chapter of the remake, Living Quarters Outbound, is now released! CLICK "READ MORE" FOR THE INSTALLATION METHOD.
Awesome! Can't wait to check it out!
Here you go, Calhouns.
Just played this... absolutely fricking amazing I cannot wait for the next chapter
Awesome!
What am I doing wrong? I've put all of the files in the correct folder but "-game bshift" doesn't work.
You need to have a steam version of Black Mesa without any "betas"
check where do you have your black mesa folder by right clicking on Black Mesa in library/properties/local files/view.
maybe you copied to BShift files and folders to different directory like myself initially
install into you bms folder in steamapps\common\BMS use windows explorer to find where you installed steam. Quick way is to right click on your desktop steam icon, you will see file location open that to check your common folder. BMS should be there.
Is the whole modification the ride in a carriage?
sell this on steam, i will buy!!!!
This is AMAZING! I personally really enjoyed what you did with the remake, especially with the malfunctions on the track! It looks amazing, really gave me the vibe of a "security tram" with more industrialist track patterns. I believe my favourite part was the Black Mesa Café having railings to be honest.
However, I noticed a bug. On Closed Captions, Otis doesn't have subtitles for his lines.
I cannot wait for more, but I will, and I personally bid the HECU collective good luck in y'all's endeavours!
Didn't the instructions mention that we should not have any of the betas installed,
e.g. set betas for Black Mesa to 'None' ??
As I recall, that involves another 1.5 GB (or thereabouts...) download, and the mods
that use the betas (like the new Xen) will not run ?
Beta juggling will drive players away......
Latest BM public beta has only UI changes on ~5mb, I think mod should run okay on it, like on the latest non-beta version of the game.
Mod not work on my black mesa 2012
it's not supposed to work on Black Mesa 2012, it's for the one you buy on Steam
Super Awesome!! Can´t wait for the Hole Game.. Please make our Dreams true
How to lauch this - i have error - Setup file gameinfo.txt doesnt exist in subdirectory bshift. Check you -game parameter or VCONFIG setting. Steam Last version of Black Mesa Source

THAT WAS AWESOME!
I really hope this mod continues with the quality it's shown in this preview. I'm really glad that something like this exists as while I really am excited for Guard Duty and OBM, I like the look of these types of projects a little more simply because they have the same models, sounds, and consistency between the parts of the levels that cross over with Black Mesa, similar to how the original expansions handled it with Half-Life 1.
