Subtales Studio, an independent video game studio based in Porto, Portugal, was founded by Filipe Rodrigues—a solo developer and enthusiast of dark fantasy, arthouse films, and cheesy gore-filled B-movies. As the founder and solo developer, I wear several hats, overseeing core strategies, product roadmaps, marketing, tools, websites, game design, programming, 3D modeling, animation, sound design, writing, and overall UI/UX design.

With this studio, I aspire to create meticulously handcrafted indie games, leveraging the storytelling potential within the video game industry. My focus is on games characterized by stylized graphics, innovative gameplay inspired by old-school games, and a rich infusion of cinematic influences.

The studio's inaugural title is Gloomy Juncture, currently scheduled for release in late 2024 or early 2025. The game's unique style combines classic adventure gameplay with a hand-drawn 3D world in a neo-noir setting, enhanced by modern technology. The aim is to craft an immersive narrative-driven experience, while forging a gameplay style that pays homage to the classic point & click games of the '90s.
