A.R.E.A. is a standalone project based on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy. The project affects all aspects of the game with no exceptions, improving their quality and diversity. The main goal was to create a more realistic Exclusion Zone, where each trip will be a unique and rough experience.

Hello!

I love Anomaly but AREA is just is good if not better
But in time I'm confident it will be the top mod.
In Anomaly I use Volumetric/Screen Space sun on different times.
1920, dx11
high settings/max water reflec off.
low grass, SSDAO Medium etc.
In AREA:
low grass, medium shadow
Obj. det. 1, max textures, 2x aa, maxed af,
vision 60%, etc.
need some GFX settings explained my performance is decent but not as high as Anomaly.
but some things I don't know if they hurt me or benefit me

  • Grass fading Enabling does what? Fade as some slow pop in?
  • Default; SSDAO, is this optimal with medium like Anomaly?
  • mrnmwar SS, I understand he ported a CryEngine screen space but hows performance?
  • Sun shadow fx / fps
  • Sun rays & Sun Shadow quality performance diffs
  • Optimal wet surface settings. So many options on this
    Are there further console commands to change the values to gain fps?

Grass fading Enabling - draw grass on much more distnace, making grass not disapearing right in front of you (1-3 fps if grass shadow disabled, with grass shadow ~5fps)
SSAO is pretty much like CoP, a little optimised. You can use it on default, depends on your VGA. HDAO is better for Nvidia old card and HBAO for Radeon.
Sun shadow ~ 5-10 fps
Sun rays depends on quality, this is fps consuming.
Wet surface distance if enabled ~2-5 fps, depends on visibilty distance, closer the distance, less consuming.
I recomend to use only presets from video menu. Make sure you have enabled options Use all CPU threads and Textures don't use RAM. Also lower shadow map quality.
