Limbic Entertainment develops and sells game software on both a national and an international level. Our core competences are game design as well as programming and hosting online and social games. Currently, our focus lies on Unity3D and Flash games.

Since Limbic's foundation in 2002 we have released about 60 product versions which have been published in more than a dozen countries. Primarily, our emphasis was on client based games, but we moved on to making online games quite early.

The three founders of Limbic – Stephan Winter, Eike Radunz and Alexander Frey – unite almost 50 years of game industry experience on themselves. The InvestitionsBank Hessen AG holds a minority interest in Limbic; furthermore, we interact closely with the Business Angel Network Rhein-Main.

About 40 employees do not only design and develop games at limbic, they also maintain and enhance games and support customers. Whether we plan an in-house development or work for our business partners, we can always draw from our pool of game designers and project managers, Flash-, Unity- and C++ coders in order to compile the perfect team for the job.

Some jobs, as for example graphics, are usually outsourced to our competent long-term partner teams. (For more information please see Third Parties). Our flexible internal structure and our excellent network enable us to cast the best possible team for each project.

Before starting Limbic, the founders were game developers at Sunflowers GmbH, one of Germany's leading computer game producers. Sunflowers sold about 5,2 million copies of the ANNO-Trilogy, which makes ANNO the most successful computer game series from a german-speaking country. During their time at Sunflowers, Winter, Radunz and Frey contributed to titles such as ANNO 1602 – NINA, ANNO 1503 and TechnoMage.

After Limbic was founded on September 19th, 2002, the company first specialized in violence-free games that are highly educational. Limbic did contract work for the gaming industry as well as for media and science. Furthermore, we founded Germany's first cross platform team as well as the first PlayStation2 team.

Limbic's „Mein Pferdehof“, a client based horse farm simulation with action elements, was released in 2003 and sold more than 800.000 times (PC and GBA). To this day it is one of the most successful german PC games for children.

Within the games industry, Limbic campaigns for better networking between game studios within German-speaking countries. We were co-founders of G.A.M.E. – Bundesverband der Entwickler von Computerspielen e.V. and are member of the gamearea-frankfurtrheinmain.de network as well as of IGDA – International Game Developers Association Chapter Frankfurt.
