Looking for help who knows DAZ3D and 3DS max to export weapon models. Since I'm working on BF2142 remaster mod project, I got my hands on few hi-poly models which I want to be implented into game. Those who help, can expect reward :)

What kind of help do you need, pal?
Need to export DAZ3D models into 3dsmax and then to BF2/2142^^ :)
Heyah
Who made this ? Is amazing ! I know that DAZ3D is and definitely what 3DS Max is but i only worked in 3DS Max 2017 mostly and a bit in 2016 version but i given up on it
Like you know broli i am working in Cinema 4D and i don't think i can help
What i think is that you need DAZ3D first of all , you need it installed then you open up this weapon there and then export it into a format that 3DS Max is seeing . You need to have 3DS Max installed too and once you successfully imported it into 3DS Max you export it as 3D object format i am guessing , or .fbx
I haven't reached the import into game level yet but i know how exporting works in 3D modellers at least in the present
I hope i helped
Weapon is made by professional artist. Model is quite complex and have over 100,000 polys - it will have serious impact for game if I won't be able to reduce polys be reducing model quality. (There's not realy very big visual difference between 20K and 100K then it's ingame). This render is mine as I got DAZ3D myself. This tool is pretty fun to fool around, but not good for actual modeling like 3Dsmax. I exported all needed models to 3ds max formats now, so left only to port them to game engine, rig and animate. I wonder how it will work in final engine :)
Thanks for checking me again, sis :)
200.000 polys is not much , i once subdivided a simple cube for sculpting and i reached 3.2 or 3.5 million polygons hahahahah
I think you seen him last summer or so , he was having a planet's surface with mountains now after i pushed a brush there
Nice of you to work in DAZ , i never tried it , maybe is more cool for sculpting if not that good for modelling
Do you have 3DS Max installed too to check them out ?
I remain curious with one question Sargi : Why is professional artist giving you models to export to Max and then for the game ? I hope you haven't helped yourself to this * wink wink * ;)
Don't get in trouble
You are always welcome but what is the help that you need ?
100k polys for single object ain't mutch, but if it's weapon and multiple players/bots use it, it will be multipled so it's very likely to get even one million additional polys in that way and in 2005 engine it's an overkill. (For polys record, I had CryEngine scene with 18 million polys, but new engine handle it very well compared to BF2142 crap).
I have no 3Ds max sadly. Only DAZ3D now. I bought those models just because I knew with some assistance I'll implent it just like other models long time ago for other game.
For help- now I only need to port 3ds max models to BF2142 and then rig, animate, script etc. Not very hard actualy.
Cry Engine handles a lot of stuff it seems
What engine is BF using ? Surely not Cry Engine
Get yourself Max then otherwise you cannot work with it
I still got Max 2017 but not installed , its engine is better i admit , i get lag in Cinema after a number of polys while in Max i could import massive objects with millions polygons from Mudbox to Max but i don't have a tree plugin for Max instead and i need trees , i need more plants and trees than i have even , there is not enough of them
I could only help if you wanted C4D models
Nice if you learned to script and rig weapons , i am yet to learn this awesomeness
Hey wait a minute ! I can import your DAZ weapon in Cinema and then export it as 3DS Max format because it can
If you wish you can let me try
BF uses "Refractor 2". It's more advanced version of old refractor engine developed in 2002. yes, that sounds very very old, but second version isn't that bad.
Actualy if I would get 3Ds max, I would also need learn to animate, model what would be too mutch. I cannot realy do anything good if I specialise on everything. I was doing arts, writing, level design, graphics, coding... and then I need to model, animate etc. I have people who are willing to do it for the sake of project and love for the game improvement :)
I already find out how to export weapons to 3ds max (I hope it will work with all versions), but you also can try to mess around with that fun stuff.
That sure is old engine
You need to learn how to model at least to understand it , animation is something beyond modelling , no need for that at first but you sure need to know how to make things , texture them and render them otherwise is no point
Yea...and i will need to specialize in everything like it or not , i sure don't feel like coding will be so fun like modelling is but this is the life
Writing is amazing and i can also call myself a game designer too or whatever the profession name is called for people that make game formats
Am also curious how the weapon was done and how it was textured , this is an opportunity for me to see professional work up close and personal , maybe i can learn something from this
My texturing skills still need improvement
Will check that out and send you back as soon i find where to upload it
If you still need someone to convert it to low poly, I may give a try. But I can't do something for exporting.
