Wolfenstein 3D is widely known as the very first First Person Shooter that changed gaming forever. One of the most popular shareware games ever for 3 straight years in a row, Wolfenstein 3D puts you in the pants of BJ Blackowicz, an american prisoner of war in a Nazi dungeon where you fight off guards, SS, dogs, zombies, and more assorted nazis! It is a gem every FPS player should have in their games collection!
Wolfenstein 3D for the Build engine, running on Eduke32. "Damn, those Nazi bastards are gonna pay"
Well this is an amazing surprise! I love the recent Wolf3D Renaissance going on recently.
It's fantastic!
Bugs: Some audio crackling during playing, it happens once in a while, when opening doors. And consistently on level 10, the secret level of level 1 of Episode 1
Does the audio crackling stop if you turn off the music in E1M10? Then I'm afraid that's just how the music is. :/
Yes. I didn't know that it was a problem with the music. Thanks for letting me know.
No problem.
I just converted the music from the original game, they were in very low quality and it's only natural they have issues.
That is understandable.
I have encountered a bug?
Under Options>Control Setup>Mouse Setup>
Change Vertical Aiming>Yes to Vertical Aiming>No
Doing so does disable vertical aiming but it does not:
Auto center aiming if vertical aiming was enabled and if it was aimed up or down, the aiming stays in that position.
And it enables vert. axis movement (walking forwards and backwards) using the mouse, disabling vert. sensitivity does nothing to stop this.
My suggestions for future update(s) would be:
Under Options>Control Setup>Mouse Setup
Add the following options:
Reset to Defaults
Vertical Mouse Movement>yes or no toggle
Enable Mouse in Menu>yes or no toggle
Auto-center Aiming if vertical aiming is disabled
Replace BJ's head on the auto-map with an arrow like in Duke 3D or Blood. Since it is disorienting (at least for me) to have BJ's head instead of an arrow. I never know in which direction I'm going.
Support for Spear of Destiny mission packs Mission 2: Return to Danger and Mission 3: Ultimate Challenge
Other than that everything else is great.
> And it enables vert. axis movement (walking forwards and backwards) using the mouse, disabling vert. sensitivity does nothing to stop this.
It was like that in Eduke32, I agree it's annoying.
If the view is not being centered automatically, here's a workaround:
Press ' to open the console menu, then type "setvar V_Center_View 1" (paste with right mouse button)
> Replace BJ's head on the auto-map with an arrow like in Duke 3D or Blood. Since it is disorienting (at least for me) to have BJ's head instead of an arrow. I never know in which direction I'm going.
There's a white arrow over BJ's head
It was like that in the Mac version, which I used for reference
> Support for Spear of Destiny mission packs Mission 2: Return to Danger and Mission 3: Ultimate Challenge
It's planned, but I think it will be an standalone installation, with the Spear of Destiny title screen and blue menus
Fox is at it again, with Silver Fox I mean Wolf lol.
I extracted all files and started eduke32.exe. The launcher only shows the installation of another Build game (that is already installed and works without eduke32).
How do I start Wolfenstein?
You should be able to just run the game
this is for linux too?
