This month in modding...
Our 2006 Mod of the Year Competition turned up the heat this month, as the FINAL 100 mods were announced and round 2 of voting began. All of the mod teams are fighting for your vote, so if you haven't seen the ads plastered about all over the place - head here to join the mayhem, and pick your TOP 3 MODS! Be sure to look-out for all of the awesome modcast videos (we've picked a few of our favorites on the right) as the mod teams crank out some mouth watering promotional media. Also I'd like to slip in a plug for our sponsors the US Navy & Game&Game who are helping making the awards bigger than ever.
Congratulations also goes out to the Unreal Tournament 2004 Deathball mod team, Decembers Mod of the Month. It isn't a new mod or even a totally new concept, but we had such a blast firing a ball around in a futuristic combat-sport game that we felt it was well deserved. So if you fancy your hand-eye coordination and timing, this is definitely a mod you should try out.
December has also seen the release of many mods, with more coming as mod teams step it up a gear during the end-of-year holidays. Here is a list of mods to keep you busy over the XMAS/NewYears Break:
- Upgrades for Starcraft Brood War
- Infinity Combat Prototype a Standalone game
- Nexuiz 2.2.1 a Standalone game
- Steel Halo for Unreal Tournament 2004
- Rise of Rome v0.7 for Battle for Middle Earth
- Master Sword for Half-Life 1
- Quake4[CC] for Quake 4
- OpenArena a Standalone game
Also keep an eye out for Goldeneye:Source who are set to release today (Christmas Day)! Merry Christmas to all and HAPPY MODDING from the Mod DB Team!
