Devlog #7 — Weekly Update!

Hi everyone, hope you are doing great! This week we want to show you what our artist was able to get done around the character and others, what our programmer was in the making and what our game designer got from some of the tests we have already! It's not a lot, but we are keeping a steady progress throughout the weeks! :D

Artwise...

For the art, our artist, was able to make made some further thumbnails, in this case, a more detailed ones — Figure 1, Figure 2 — from a specific pose we chose last week, which was a swimming one — Figure 3 —, which we will show you below! Also, he has a sample, which he is working on, for the background music of our game, which will have a tropical e casual vibe to it, more so of a relaxing music! Of course, with ocean sounds in the mix!!

Regarding Programming...

This last week, our programmer started changing a bit of the scripts and making it really work again on the new prototype we are making! With the results of the testing we made, we got some answers that helped her choose what to prioritize now and work on, which she is set on finishing the Puzzle Mechanic, as we got the results from the test, also she has been working on optimizing the game itself! Not to mention finishing up the inventory system, so that it's all working correctly in the end! Since we have to change it up a bit, that's what she will be working on for these next weeks!

Game Design…

As for game design, I was conducting the tests as said previously, and now I was able to get to some conclusions, which from the Puzzle mechanic, there is some tweaks we still need to do to it, namely change up the Puzzle Mechanic a bit, our target audience liked both the Exposure types of puzzle, and it was around tied with the last test we made, so we are asking some new people about some feedback on it, also, we verified that there were still some bugs we needed to resolve, but that's already being taken care of by our programmer!

For the art, we are still managing the tests to see the outcome of it, but for the most part, people like the artstyle being applied to the game and think it fits, we need to just slightly change some parts of the backgrounds and future assets to make it better regarding the feel of the game, but we think it's coming together! In a future update we will be able to show you a big picture of what it is our artist was able to make regarding the art!

Thank you!

For this week, that's all we have! For these next few weeks we expect to make some progress in the report of the game (game design), make a better view of the character and start making the assets for the game (art), and resolve and update the game so it's optimized and working properly (programming)!

Hope to see you again next week, we are very excited about Soul of Azores, hope you are too! :D
