Same here.
I hate how it happens sometimes: you find a good mod while browsing during break on your job and completely forgot about it when you're home.
And then remember about it when you're back at work.
I have to agree. With my schedule I don't often get to play much these days but i'll hear news of a game soon to be released or catch a release and make a mental note to try it over the weekend but I always forget I have no weekends. It usually takes another big announcement that's just perfectly timed, or a friend like Henley who asks me what I think planting that seed of guilt "You're no longer a gamer!" but am grateful that others remember for me :(
Depends on how excited I'm about the mod. If I was only following it out of curiosity, or just for their art or stuff I would probably wait.
But, if on the other hand, I've been dearly waiting for this mod to come, then I'll probably download it ASAP. Pretty much the same as if it were your regular retail game, actually...
Download and play ASAP alot of the time. If I've never heard of the mod and i'm interested, or just didn't have my hopes up, I'd wait for community reactions.
Mods that I've been watching I'll most likely download ASAP, unless there is some event where I'll miss the release. If I see a mod that looks cool on the front page or heard about, I'll probably bookmark it until I get free time to really look at and play it.
I wait until I have a chance to see what others think, unless I got a chance to see a lot of media releases that could convince me it's worth playing. Nothing's higher on the lame-scale than having to download a terabigabyte of files only to find out it's just a few new maps relying on the game's base content or some silly Counter-Strike reskin.
I always wait. if the community says it's a good mod, I test it by myself. If the community says it's an average mod, I sometimes play it anyway (depending in the mod). If the community says it's horrid, 90% of the times I don't play it.
You know, for me, it depends on the mod, and seeing the media releases, screenshots, etc. If it was one mod ive been waiting a while for, I'd be downloading that sucker ASAP, and installing / extracting / copying files right away.
But if its some mod im looking at in a general category...of lets say - "Zombie" themed mods. More often than not, I'll look at community reviews.
i think the problem with the community reacts is, that there is not really a reaction. The most mods are rated by 10 people. i think this can not be the crucial factor to trade a mod
If it looks like a high-quality mod that has a lot of pictures/info and good developers (that tell you bugs, problems, issues and other stuff) I will download and play ASAP, but if the mod is a bit "quiet" and it's not very popular I'm going to wait for the community, cause i don't want to ruin my game in case the mod has problems now do I? :)
I have abit of a habit of downloading mods and forgetting about them for a week or two until I find time to get into them. I like completing mods in 1 or 2 sittings as I feel I appreciate games more when I really get stuck into them instead of playing for maybe 30 minutes a day.
Mostly watch a little for some feedback for a assumption of what to expect, but most of the time its one im watching i gotta play it right now this second!
"Wait to see how the community reacts " Lol, I love how many ppl defer judgment to the mob rather than making up their minds for themselves. Groupthink FTW!
I'm a busy guy, I always consume at a later date.

You sound just like me.
I think we are twins.

I gotta play it the second it comes out because I was most likely watching the mod like an eagle in the first place.

as a modder myself I'd rather see community reactions :)
For me, it depends on the content of the mod!
If I've been watching it then I'll download it ASAP!
Download and install, play it as soon as I have free time.
Always bookmark and download later (usually when I have the time to download AND play).

If I own the game - load it, what's better than new game content for free?
Usually the first one. But currently I´m using the second opition, since I still don´t have a fuc*ing graphic card...
i only wait for the communities opinion if its a mod im not sure if i'll like or not.
I don't play as much mods as i used to but if i see a good mod i just see what reaction is then play it when i get free time (which is very rare haha)

Yep, I'll have to agree with you, good sir!

But yeah, there's some variables in there.
most of the good mods have plenty of media in their profile to decide what is that exactly
If I have been looking forward to, or looks awesome - immidately
If its a mod that I can't remember why I tracked then I'll wait
I'm too busy to play mods 'ASAP'.. I mean.. 'ASAP' usually is about 2 weeks after release :P
I play as soon as I can before the mod becomes dead.........
i think the problem with the community reacts is, that there is not really a reaction. The most mods are rated by 10 people. i think this can not be the crucial factor to trade a mod
Download and play ASAP? No, I'm not that freak..I will download/play it when I really really get bored and have nothin' to do...

Bookmark for later consumption.
Singleplayer mods usually later, multiplayer mods ASAP (while they still have the most players).

Like others said. If its a mod Ive been tracking for a while and paid a lot of attention to I would get it asap.
But really I don't go downloading any general mod until I read the community opinions and the feature list etc.
I don't generally care what the community thinks because they might think a mod sucks, but I might enjoy it. That's uncommon, but it does happen.
ASAP! Because im a bored soul, and most the time it's a mod i have been waiting for, for lonnngggg. :P
I download And Play ASAP! I wanna get maximum value for the hundreds of dollars i spend on buying games...
Download and play when I get a spare moment, not as often as I'd like regrettably.
Mostly watch a little for some feedback for a assumption of what to expect, but most of the time its one im watching i gotta play it right now this second!
