Duke Nukem or Duke Nukem 3D? There seems to be some confusion over this with some people. Duke Nukem was a 2D platformer which was later made into an FPS as Duke Nukem 3D.

Tetris is the oldest, but I think I'd probably not vote for Tetris because the gameplay hasn't got old. Its simplicity doesn't mean it has aged like the other games in terms of its graphics. Something's oldskool if it's enjoyable with rose-tinted glasses. In the cases of most of those games those rose-tinted glasses are about having been there when those games came out, and remembering just what they meant for games in general and how they contributed to what we have today.

For me it can only be oldskool if it's a game I don't play any more, so that'd be Duke Nukem, Quake, Doom, Wolfenstein 3D (which I only played once and did about 3 levels). I still play Half-Life mods and I still play Tetris and Tetris variations, such as Super Puzzle Fighter which I strongly recommend if you want a cheap versus game to stir up emotion with your housemates/family!

I mean comeon it fits on 2x3.25 floppy disks, from memory the Doom demo took up 8 of the suckers.

Damn... I voted doom... i was thinking duke3d with duke. Duke2d is REALLY old school. Oldschool gameplay, like wolf 3d, doom & Quake. HL gameplay isn't oldschool. it's no different then modern games, just older looking. :) tetris isn't oldschool.... it's TIMELESS! Like pong & space invadors!

we need more duke,doom,quake style games. story based games are becoming old school now a days. :)

Tetris isn't "oldskool" - more people still play Tetris than any of the other games listed.

An Oldskool PC game would be a game released before videocards became popular and affordable. Like the Secret of Monkey Island.
