(204 votes)It gives me a great idea of where the mod is headed!
(160 votes)Cool stuff. I like art.
(103 votes)Meh.
(146 votes)Why don't they update some screenshots?!
Art.
/me bows to deviantart
It gives a great idea of where the mod is going, otherwise you're sitting waiting until they release pictures of the finalised models/maps, which can take ages, and people will lose interest because of that.
It's a two edged sword.
If all a mod releases is drawings that look like some kid was doing them between classes, then the mod is as good as vaporware.
Unfortunately, alot of mods end up like this. And concept art just makes it kinda pathetic.
I don't want to see what the tihngs WILL MAYBE look like, I wanna see ATLEAST WIP non-skinned models.
You should have added an option that said "It's great! Give's modelers and mappers reference and the entire team an idea about what they're going for.". That's what I'd vote.
Except that the poll is aimed towards people just waiting for the mod, not the mod team itself.
It is simply for modellers and mappers to know what they should be modelling and mapping. It shows what the end product will look like style wise, and people who are waiting for the mod should realise that too.
i never really care about concept art.
pointless, really imo.
where are the screenshots, and download for ut2007? I was told if i voted, the game would come out 6 months quicker - and look rather dull :P
Not exactly essential, but I like to see at least some progress.
Concept art really doesn't need to be released.
It's just a way of making look like work is done.
if a mod doesent have any concept art it doesent mean its not on the right trck but it does help
i like concept art but i think ppl should update them more often rather than 3 at a time to show progress
/me thinkz good but screens old on some mods
Concept = Win
that adds up to 101 percent
Concept art is invaluable when you're modelling something. As far as showing it to the public, I always like to see it, but I don't consider it a representation of the direction the mod is going since concept artists may be more or less skilled than whoever's making the actual in game assets.
artbyfang anyone?
Concept art is really for the developers, to allow them to quickly get a feel for things, and to share their vision. As such it shouldn't really be flaunted around as promotion material - but still it doesn't hurt to show a bit of whats to come!
the point of concept art is to help the modelers not to please the players =.=
but of course you need to get people who can actually draw to be any help at all
I've always liked good concept art, for me it goes a long way in promoting a clearly planned, well produced game idea. In early stages of development or nearing completion I think it's interesting stuff.
Unless it's stickmen sketched in MS paint :O
I wouldnt mind so much if half of the concept art you see looks like it was drawn by a five-year-old in crayon.
