Before making my next bigger video, heres a little interesting guy named mavman aka Mavros. Most of you can know him from the Perfect Dark Source project, which was one of those "let's recreate a classic game on source, cause...cause we can!" projects. The mod had only a multiplayer in the end, and only featured the main elements of HL2DM within a Perfect Dark universe. This was mavman's first bigger project, where he made several animations/models/textures and helped out the devteam.

But he was more convinced with the awsome new engine by Crytek, and he made two little but more interesting mods for the first FarCry. The first (on video) was a bigger project featuring gameplay based on ONLY shadows and lights...so basicly the game looked like a monochrome interactive dream. It's kind of interesting, cause I've tried a lot of FC mods back in the days, and now with this video modblog project, it's a nostalgic feel remindig me of my early moddbian experiances...but back to Mr Mavros: this mod looks like one of those too unique mods where you can't really see anything. After you realise the whole gameplay and the style of graphics, it becomes more like a dreamy experience and you just go with the flow. I seriously recommend this one despite the short lenght (and made by only lightning and cubes).

His second - lot smaller - project was Roomette, which is also a dream like mod. To be exact, it IS a dream, cause one of his friends dream/fantasy was made into a map. Well, this mod is more interesting then fun, a techdemo would better descibe it. Theres also a darker sepia color version of the dream if you continue, and this was accomplished without using the hdr announced with the 1.4 patch.Meanwhile in the Crytek headquorters, some of the main devguys were impressed by our heroes work, and later on he participated in Crysis and Crysis 2 (Gameplay prototyping and cinematic design on an unannounced title. Cinematic design on "Crysis 2". CryEngine3 used). His work was featured in present day hit game: I am Alive.

Well , besides going professional, he is also working on a Crysis mod called Inférences. The mod was started 3 years ago, and has a lot of promising pictures of the maps (gotta love maps with big industrial pipes). Not too much info was released from the project yet, and it seems a bit dead, BUT mavman is still an active member of Moddb, so maybe a year from now, we will get an other quality release from him. So head on to his mod and drop a track if interested.

Hope you guys liked this little post, next week I'm gonna make the "recommended Quake 3" vid, so look out for it on my youtube channel, or here in the "eat at medve's" moddb modblog of mine. See you next time.
