I love wiremod, it adds many new possibilities to Garrysmod, especially the E2 chip. That thing is amazing.

Why is the downloading so complicated??
Really, can't I just download it from this site like any other mod?

Simple, we don't want people submitting support tickets for things we have already solved. Also, wire is constantly updated. With how often updates are pushed, this would mean we would be releasing versions much more rapidly than 99% of the other projects on ModDB.

Lastly, you say we could make it simpler for you to just download a zip, we say you could learn to live with a small learning curve to understand the convenience of SVN. "Teaching a man to fish" comes to mind.

You'll never be a professional with that attitude, customer friendliness man! Though if you won't wanna be one, who's there to stop you from not being so friendly.

We are all volunteers. Many of us are on the "hacker" scene in one way or another. We don't play with human niceties, we prefer to just get the job done. We don't spoon feed people. If someone doesn't want to do a little homework, that's too bad.

But we do try to place nice with the people who at least try.

Nothing wrong with it then.
The world is a tough place, I just prefer to play it nice, you don't.

You're free to do what you want.
I'll shut up now, good luck with the project I guess.

Yeah I understand, I'm a nice person face to face, but if you give me a job, at that point I'd prefer to just get it done, and get it done right... standing there taking 5 minutes to say pleasantries instead of just saying "on it, give me this, this, and that" is a waste of time :).

Once it's done, I'd be happy to be pleasant again.

"Give a man a fish and he'll feed himself for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat drinking beer all day."
Yeah I've heard that.

I wonder... will you maybe port this whole thing to ns2 ? :D

It uses lua too, but will be MUCH MUCH MUCH more flexible
and better looking xD
(all gamecode is written in LUA)

The thing is, I doubt you'll be able to make much use of Wiremod in vanilla NS2. Unless you're suggesting they make a Garry's Mod clone?

well, that's good and bad news... I hoped that by putting your mod on ModDB will solve the complicated installation / update procedure, but I am wrong... anyways, tracking for further updates and tutorials =)

I think it's more of a "garrysmod.org only allows torrents of things greater than 5MB, let's jump ship for our stable downloads" thing, or something.

We were one of the first addons, if not THE first, to use subversion. The other addons got the idea from us. We've been doing it for years.

@Awesome_ninja: As for SVN being complicated: it's only that way on setup. After that it's even easier than downloading and extracting.
