I started developing this mod almost ten years ago.. My plan was to have an assortment of maps, professional looking models, textures and sounds. Ha! ...delusions of grandeur. When the 2013 code base came out and broke my mod, I was devastated. I took a 3 year break and almost gave up. I had spent a lot of time on coding, that is, after teaching my self to code. I still planned on making my own art assets, etc. I started to realize how silly and over ambitious my plans were. Sure, I'd talked to people, read articles and watched videos all telling me how dumb it is to try and tackle a huge project like that, especially considering the fact that I have no industry experience in the relevant fields. I have worked in Worldcraft\Hammer since 2000...still not a great level designer. I have worked in 3ds max and photoshop since 2004, still quite rubbish in regards to both of them. I have a pretty decent understanding of C++, that's what I DO have going for me. So, I decided to work with that. I cut off adding any models that weren't necessary for prototyping, add materials only as needed, work out a single playable level to show what can be done , code and then code some more. I am nearing a first alpha release and am feeling pretty good. I will be releasing the .fgd with this first release and am hoping that interested parties take the reigns on creating dynamic game play scenarios and environments. I have a single dedicated server running and am willing to fund more as needed. I want to release a game that's future is guided by it's community, a game that can be played for fun or competition as well as role play...where game play comes before visuals or fancy bells and whistles.
