More work from our modeling department, the Carnifex, known as the "screamer-killer" due to the high pitched noise it makes when discharging bio-plasma at it foes, its also armoured like a tank and has 4 talons that can slice even a space marine in two. It?s more than a bit nasty. To go with it we have its weapon model, the aforementioned talons, beware stabby-slicy pain.

Next we have the Zonathrope, created by Mindblighter. It is a highly psychic creature that can project massive blasts of energy at its target, as well as do other weird, mindbendy stuff. Although its specific evolution leaves it open to attack up close as unlike other Tyranids it is not as able to defend itself at close range.

And finally the PDF (planetary defence force) trooper, the massed forces of the PDF are equivalent to a real world army and operate at a tech level of the planet in question. They are the first defence against anything from pirate raids to large scale attacks, but are not as heavily equipped as Imperial Guard Regiments. It?s their job to hold the line until re-enforcements arrive.

The PDF will be the space marines allies (unless genestealers got to them first, but that?s another story for another day) and will work as AI units that will be involved with the objectives in the city, supporting the Space Marines where possible, although they wont stand up to the full fighting power of the Tyranids without help.

In other departments, Chromeangel is working on a MDK (map development kit) to aid in the creation of the city, we hope to see it as well as a full map of the city (im working on this one) sometime soon.

"although they wont stand up to the full fighting power of the Tyranids without help."
That is a bit of an underestimation.
Imperial Guards are hardly a challenge for the big Nids already, and since PDF is weaker than IG, you would need at least a group of 20 to be a challenge for a warrior.

Well done on the Warhammer 40k look. With the Source Engine, you should be able to add heaps more detail to the models than the last game they released. Hope it goes well.... looking good, keep up the good work...

Yes, we have a lot of challenging animation work ahead of us. An experienced animator would be a great help to the team *sighs*
