Hi there. It have been nearly an year since the last release, but I didn't (hopefully) too sort handed when it comes to fixes and new features.
First for the Classic games a new HUD is now available that you can activate by enabling it in the gameplay settings and increasing the game's screen size (press the "+" key on your keyboard), the HUD borrows various elements from DOOM 3's HUD while keeping the Classic aesthetic. For DOOM 3, the Carmack's reverse is now added (due to the expiration of the pattern) which bring the stencil shadows from the vanilla game back. Also for that release you can choose the audio backend API you want to use while playing the game (OpenAL-soft or XAudio 2), that feature is ONLY available on Windows and can be triggered by using the launch argument +set s_useXAudio. Lastly the game now can detect and automatically change between audio devices, which means that if you disconnect your headphones mid game it will switch to your speakers (if you have any) automatically.
Various issues the Classic games where having mainly with demo recording and playback have been fixed. Also issues loading specific mods with names that includes special characters have been fixed. And finally some stencil shadow issues with cinematics have been resolved (just make sure the SSAO is disabled)
If your PC still runs on Windows 7/8/8.1 please make sure to read the installation instructions since they contain instructions for downloading Xaudio 2.9 from official source (nuGet).
Also is worth mentioning that a new (alpha version) tool is now available which allow you to open .resources files and extract specific files from them, edit them or even create new ones. If you are interested to use it or to contribute check here: MadDeCoDeR/BFG-Resource-File-Manager: Open and edit DOOM 3 BFG/2019 .resources files (github.com)
Alongside that release two new addons have also been added.
The first addon restores the Hazardous section of Erebus 5: Erebus 5 Restored Hazard Section addon - DOOM BFA Edition mod for Doom III - Mod DB
The second one is a (broken) text translation of DOOM 3 to Greek (it also comes with a jack of all trades font (in theory)): (Broken) Greek Translation addon - DOOM BFA Edition mod for Doom III - Mod DB
Both the Linux and microsuck versions give me this:
Sys_Error: Could not load default font "Arial_Narrow"
