The demo for Uncanny Valley is finally ready for download! Plus, a new trailer!

Posted by on

After hard work we are finally ready to share a small bit of Uncanny Valley with you in a form of a playable demo. We think the demo features everything we promised in the announcement posts - but, it's best if you decide on your own by download and playing the trailer. You can do so by clicking this link: Cowardlycreations.com

We also released a new trailer to go with it:

Plus, you can now pre-order the game for a very low price of 6.99€. You'll receive both a Steam key and a DRM free copy when the game launches in a few months.

So please, play the game and share your opinion in the comments below or by sending us an email to contact@cowardlycreations.com.

I'm also uploading the file here to IndieDB, if anyone would prefer to download it here (not that it matters).

*SPOILER* That was the most CONFUSING demo i have EVER played!!! It made almost no sense at all.. Who am I? am I real? which one is the nightmare?? One minute running into the zombie dude will result in getting attacked.. the next the zombie in the tunnels does NOTHING!! swapping from 2 different characters and NOT explaining who either of them are is just BAD story telling, i know its a DEMO but the DEMO is suppose to show off the game and want you coming back, this just confused the hell out of me, and believe me, when someone is confused.. they are RARELY scared.. I was not scared once.. though it has the potential to be a great game, the DEMO is not well done at all :(

I'm sorry you feel that way. The two characters are the same, one is in civil clothing and one is in his uniform. The demo was mean to be confusing, but there's a pattern there everyone did figure out.

The main game will be more straightforward and paced way slower than the demo.

Dont get me wrong, i think the game has MASSIVE potential..im sure the FINAL game is amazing, BUT!! we dont get to SEE the final game, we get to see the DEMO, so your DEMO needs to be as close to the end game as possible so we can decide if its worth our money.. I review games aswell as code them, i have seen hundreds of great games sell badly because of poor demos.. I would have scared the **** out people in this demo - if its supposed to be scary.. which im sure it IS.. there should have been a few JUMP SCARES in there.. like i said, im not trying to be negative though i know my post did sound that way... I LOVE!!!!!!!! adventures like your game, heart and soul of the indie movement for sure.. but if noone gives you feedback.. you wont understand where the consumer wants you to go with the product. tnx for replying though.. really appreciate it.

We don't want to clutter the games with jump scares. One here and there, perhaps, but otherwise we want to rely on a good story and a dense atmosphere.

A lot of people, myself including, thing we nailed the atmosphere, as for the story we wanted to make it confusing in order to not spoil anything for the full game, where the story is a bit more straightforward.

Still, thanks for the criticism. It's useful and we appreciate it!

Any chance of a Linux build of the demo?
My main computer is broken and this one only has Linux. I find this project rather interesting and would love to check out the demo.

Right now Windows only, sorry. We need to purchase a Linux exporter and properly test it.

To be honest, this game looks phenomenal compared to most other pixel-art inspired "horror" games. May I ask what you guys are using for your artwork? ie what programs, etc? (:
