Post news Report RSS TS:AE in: GDI Strikes Back

In Nod's moment of glory, GDI snuck in and made a significant counter offensive. Will Nod pull of an epic defense in the weeks to come? I think we all know the answer to that: MAYBE!

Progress has been slow this week due to vacation and visitors and other real life stuffs interfering with the technology of peace. However, Nod has made some headway and we'll post them, RIGHT NAOW, YEAH!!

The Tiberium Refinery, a very Nod building if I do say so myself, even though the game doesn't, has been completed. I haven't gotten the time to scale it to the original game yet, but needless to say that is an easily corrected issue. I also replaced the bib with a more fitting one compared to the original TS bib. It is my hope against hope that one day we will even be able to have a faction specific refinery in Tiberian Sun. (Hint: it's possible.)

On the expansion side of things, Nod has gotten their own unique images for liquid storage tanks. These will be able to replace the generic civilian tanks in missions of your choosing.

Snazzy!

GDI's power plant has been done for a bit, but it needed to be rerendered to current standards, so more power to it.

Power is great, cause this next building needs ALL OF IT EVER to run. The GDI uplink center has been knocked off the to-do list, as well as its plug-ins.

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MOAR!
As a special bonus, even though it never is actually used in game, I have remastered the GDI dropship bay as well. I don't know the current state of the dropship logic in the game, but it does make a really nice set piece regardless of functionality.

Lastly we have some GDI Expansion voxels. These will be included with TS:AE's release, and it will be up to you as the modders to use them in any way you see fit.

First up are some faction specific GDI Container Trucks. These carry crates to and fro in a conflict zone, and serve as excellent targets for Nod troops.

Lastly and not at all leastly, is a concept that I envisioned long ago to fill a gap in the GDI arsenal. If the Orca Transport is the Chinook of the Tiberian Sun universe, this would be the Blackhawk equivalent. I will post a full 3d render of it sometime later (once it is made) to help grant a better visual understanding of it. The Orca Assault Transport carries far fewer troops than the larger transport, but can insert them far faster and more tactically on the battlefield.

That's all for this week. Stay tuned and thanks for reading!

It would be interesting to see a vehicle that could carry the ingame crates, though. :P
Even if they're kind of silly by design.

Awesome work on the refinery, btw the EMP cannon was also a Nod design, do you plan on doing a GDI variant of it too?

Most assuredly. Both factions will have unique assets for all buildings by the time I've had my word with them.

Is it possible for you to add up-link-plug-ins to the GDI radar as well? If a modder wants to have the Ion Cannon on the radar you know.
