Although most fans are already aware of our plans to port Troopers to Unreal Tournament 2004, some of you might have slipped through my fingers as I tightened my grasp.

Well here is the official word from the front lines of Hoth: Kinetic Studios has decided to cease all further development on Unreal Tournament 2003 and switch to Unreal Tournament 2004. We have already ported our current beta code over and are continuing the development process at a brisk pace.

Some things you can expect to see are new player characters, new weapons such as the DLT20A and the infamous Scout Pistol, new locations such as Hoth and Mos Eisley as well as revisits to old ones; Yavin has never looked better. Along with these new things you will see updated weapon code for every weapon, as well as sprinting and leaning. In our objective game type you will experience our new class system which currently features Scouts, Troopers, Medics and Engineers - each with their own load outs.

I would also like to use this opportunity to welcome our two new animators to the team: Adrian Lopresto and Sergio "Texanimator" Gonzalez will be working together to bring our new models to life. And before I forget, we have two new Mappers as well. Keith "Swag" Balding and Jason "Wolfen" Spencer are the names they gave to the Imperial Name Registration Office. Swag's been getting a heavy tan under those Tatooine Suns. Wolfen, a member of the 501st Imperial Legion has been cracking down on the rebel activity around here, so I'll have to try and slip out more secret plans later. Expect me to try and slip my contacts at those rebel news sites model and map pictures unless I'm captured first.

Finally, I would like to congratulate the entire Troopers team as well as the teams of Red Orchestra and Air Buccaneers for being chosen to have their mods shown off by Epic at this year's Game Developer Conference in San Jose, California. Congratulations guys!

And now for some media for everybody! I have collected a nice group of pictures to show the community. Here you will find weapons, classes, the ingame map and more. As another special treat we have two quick movies for you. From TexAnimator we have an example of his Storm Trooper animations. These come in the form of a short 1,3 MB .avi file. Click on the image below to download, or click here for an alternative mirror.

.

There's also a movie from eXoR, showing off the latest new leaning feature. Note that this movie was captured when testing on an Unreal Tournament 2004 map; those who have played the game will recognise it as DM-DesertIsle. This is not a Troopers map. You can have a look for yourself in this 4,2 MB .wmv movie, which is also mirrored here.

That marks the end of this post. Expect to see more regular updates in the future. Don't forget to drop by our irc channel at #ut2003troopers on irc.gamesurge.net and to visit our forums, be it just to say hi or to ask questions. For all the pictures that aren't in this post visit
