First beta release! Beam people up from the sidewalk!

Posted by on

Training for Aliens: UFO is a simple game based on arcade claw crane games. You control a UFO and must try to beam up as many people as possible before the time runs out.

The beta download is hosted here on IndieDB:

If you find any bugs or issues, let me know:

  • what happened
  • how to replicate it, and
  • some specifications for your PC and monitor (just in case that matters).

Use comments on my GameDev.net developer journal or here on IndieDB. I'll make changes based on tester feedback, as well as a few more improvements, and then upload a fresh build on the weekends.

I still need to put in more variety for the victim movement animations, add some sounds, and polish the main menu and closing screens. I also have plans for a number of levels, each with slightly different gameplay.

It's exciting how quickly I can create the game using Unity. I'm hoping to release it by the end of this month, so let me know if you find any issues.

simple, but funny idea and could get really interesting. For example you might be able to put them down again somewhere. If you manage that they don't remember anything you get a bonus, etc.

Thanks for the feedback!

I've just uploaded a new version with sounds, multiple captures, beam improvements and a bit more polish. I'm adding more levels over the coming week, which I'll upload next weekend with changes based on tester feedback.

Ben :)
