A bit too late but here it is, the newsletter for June 2021. Enjoy the read!

Activity at modding

At Legends of Middle-Earth 5.0 for the game Age of Mythology: The Titans we got a lovely little trailer. Venlesh wrote also an article about the future of campaigns, so the upcoming campaign releases and the plans for post expansions. You can read more about them here.

Coming to the BfME game series, starting with Battle for Middle-earth. We got a new member at the Tolkien Modding Community here, the mod project The War for Arnor. This mod plans to add the faction Arnor and perhaps Angmar too and will require the patch 1.06 to work properly.

And at the Bfme mini mod we got one image about the current work in progress at the elven faction.

At Wars of the Firstborn based on The Ridder Clan Mod for the game Battle for Middle-earth II: Rise of the Witch King the developers presented a new redesign of the forest of Mirkwood, continuing with a rework of the buildings from previous updates. It is a major redesign of the economy buildings which can be built in the glade tree.

The developers of the Edain Mod released the mod version 4.5.5. The new update is another fixpatch on their way to 4.6. It takes care of a load of bugs and introduces lots of other smaller changes. You can read an article about the update here.

At the modding project Age of the Ring we can see the concentration on some hero characters and buildings for the Harad faction.

Berúthiel, Black Queen of Umbar
The Golden King
Burôdapân, Lord of Waves

At LotR: Realms in Exile for Crusader Kings III we got some couple of little patches, version 2.1.6 is now the actual one. I can't really see any changelog (looking only at moddb) so it's hard for me to follow what actually changed. We also got a nice look at the Gondorian Court.

The good old Rome: Total War got a remastered version, Total War: Rome Remastered. And we already got the first new modding project for it, Total War: Beleriand. We are looking forward to see a release of it someday.

Coming to the mod Total War: Rise of Mordor for the game Total War: Attila. The developers there are some of the most active ones, always presenting more work than can be shown off here. They released a hotfix, version 0.5.1 is the most actual one at the moment. You can read the changelog for it here. Of their work I present only a few selected one here.

The Rise of Mordor: Submod got also an update, version 2.1 is out. It concentrates on compatibility, minor changes and updates and brings new looks for Dol Amroth, Dorwinion, Eriador with it.

Coming to the good old flagship of LotR modding, Medieval II: Total War: Kingdoms. At Castellan's Visual Enhancements & Overhaul for Divide And Conquer we got some new Gundabad Orc variant to see.

At Silmarillion: Total War the developers also presented a lot of nice new models which reinforce the ranks of the good factions.

Originally I would have some images of hobbit spies which the developer of Third Age Total War 4.0 posted. But it got deleted again which might be due to lacking permissions of the original creators or other reasons. I also just noticed that nearly all comments at the normal moddb page got deleted too which makes it always a bit more suspicious what is going on there.

At Third Age: Reforged we got some new mid tiers units for Edhellond. They got some lovely new look, I hope there is more coming.

Edhellond Halberdiers Redone
Edhellond Bowmen (Previously Dor-e-ernil archers) Redone

For the game Mount & Blade: Warband we got a new steam workshop update for the mod The Last Days (of The Third Age of Middle Earth). The update there is equivalent to the Nightly Patch version r3461. It contains siege improvements and miscellanoues other little things like new Mirkwood battlefields, new scenes for the Woodelf Camp scene and siege, and other little fixes and balances. You can read the full changelog here.

For the game Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord we got some little surprise mod coming up, The Battle for Helm's Deep, which is, as you might have guessed it, concentrating purely on the iconic battle of the second film. More informations are not really given here, at least I couldn't find more.

Tolkien in games outside the modding area

At The Ring Roleplay Project - TRRP we got a nice article about the Northern Valleys which you can read here.

The developers of LotR Conquest: Reimagined seem to be back of their little break. We will see what they will come up with at the upcoming weeks. And the developers of The Battle for Middle-Earth: Reforged showed off some model for the Barrow Wights.
