Today’s blog brings you something a little different, in the form of a video interview with Michail Mamaschew, our Art Director. I put together a few questions from the perspective of someone who can throw together a stick figure in MS Paint in about half an hour, so the answers Michail gives should be very informative whether you are an experienced artist yourself or not.
What we really wanted to create for people with this video is not just a look at how we create promotional art and game assets for Das Tal, but also a look at the Michail’s creative process. We get a lot of positive comments on our art style, and I think that is due to both the time we put into creating this art style and Michail’s obvious talent.
I should also mention that the video has timelapse footage of Michail creating one of our recent key visuals (that we used for the Development Supporter Packs page), so even if you don’t want to listen to us jabber on, throw on some music and watch it unfold at 1,000 times speed - it really is neat to watch.
To see more of his concept art, think about getting one of these brand-new supporter packages. If you want more regular sneak-peeks make sure to get the Harbinger pack as those supporters get access to a special forum part where Michail regularly posts new in-progress artworks.
You can visit Michail’s portfolio at michail-art.com. He sometimes has capacities in between working on Das Tal, and we encourage you to contact him if you are interested in his assistance in creating some amazing visuals of your own.
I hope you all enjoyed the video, and please do share this anywhere you feel it might be enjoyed further, such as your artist communities or just with your friends!
Thanks for reading guys!
