A total conversion for the Medieval II Total War - Kingdoms expansion
Main Features
1. The Middle-earth Map
Play on an extensive historically accurate map of Middle-earth as it was in the Third Age, including 115 settlements taken straight from Middle-earth lore and completed with several fictional locations.
Visit the wonders of Middle-earth, like the Three Towers, the Argonath or Durin's tower and see all the unique locations of Middle-earth like Minas Tirith, the Black Gate or Isengard. Battle in the hills of Rohan, the huge forests of the Mirkwood or the dark ash of Mordor.
2. The Factions
Play with all important factions of the Third Age, including Gondor, Rohan, High and Silvan Elves, Dwarves, Eriador, Dale, Isengard, Mordor, Rhun, Harad and the Orcs of the Misty Mountains. Every faction has its own strengths and weaknesses, benefits and disadvantages on the battle as well as the campaign map. Decide if you want to face your enemy with a small, but trained and heavily armored army or if you count on masses of units to overrun your foes. The unit design is based on visual references of the Lord of the rings movie trilogy, completed with fictional units and artwork, all based on the lore of Middle-earth.
3. The Gameplay
The end of the Third Age is a time where good and evil wage a decisive war for the final domination of Middle-earth. Both ways, freeing the good people of Middle earth as well as bringing the world under the shadow will not be an easy task for the player. A new campaign and battle AI will make the player's life much harder and a unit recruitment based on a cultural level and a regional recruitment requires strategically decisions and will slow down your expansion if not properly planned. The AI will also receive certain bonuses like extra money or additional armies if they get in serious trouble to compensate the lack of human intelligence and the lack of income through missions.
4. The Design
In order to reflect the world of Middle-earth as good as possible, there is an almost complete rework of the 2D and 3D design, including settlements, locations, the interface, the symbols and pictures and much more. To create an even deeper atmosphere, all cultures have a unique set of music and unit sounds and voices were completely changed for many factions. Lastly there is a huge amount of new videos, including the intro, the faction intros and many in-game events.

Part2: Moddb.com
### TATW 3.1 Patch
You do not need the 3.1 patch, it contained a virus, just download the 3.2 patch and it will work.
### TATW 3.2 Patch

Installation
Requirements:
- TATW 3.2 is a stand-alone version and does not require any existing installations of TATW!
- If you have installed a previous version of TATW (2.1 or older), it is recommended to delete the old version before installing TATW 3.2.
(Note that TATW doesn't change any registry settings of your system, so you can also delete the old TATW folder "Third_Age" manually.)
- TATW 3.2 requires the 'Medieval 2 - Kingdoms Expansion' and is compatible with the official patch 1.04 and 1.05. (One installed campaign of the 'Kingdoms Expansion' is enough)
Installation:
- Install
TATW_3.0_Part1of2.exe &
TATW_3.0_Part2of2.exe &
You do not need the 3.1 patch, it contained a virus, just download the 3.2 patch and it will work.
into the default "Medievall II Total War" directory.
(Normally this is: "Programs/SEGA/Medieval II Total War")
If you have installed Medieval II into another folder, please select the folder manually.
- Start the mod with the 'Third Age - Total War' shortcut on your desktop
Additional installation instructions only for Steam users:
1. Install all parts of the mod as instructed above.
2. Open "Steam/Steamapps/Common/Medieval II Total War/mods". There you will find all your installed Kingdoms campaigns as well as the "Third_Age_3" modfolder.
3. Edit the name of one of the Kingdoms folders (americas, britannia, crusades, teutonic), preferably your least favorite campaign. The new name doesn't have to be anything specific.
4. Change the name of the "Third_Age_3" folder to the former name of the Kingdoms folder you just edited. For example, if you edited the "americas" folder, the "Third_Age_3" folder should be named "americas".
5. Select the appropriate campaign from the steam menu. If you renamed the "Third_Age_3" folder to "americas", select the americas campaign. If you named it "crusades", select the crusades campaign and so on.
6. Steam will now launch the mod.
If you have installed 3.0 or 3.1 and renamed your folders before you have installed the 3.2 Patch:
- If you have already renamed the "Third_Age_3" folder to one of your 'Kingdoms' campaigns (for example to "americas") install the patch normally.
- After the installation, move the files of the newly created "Third_Age_3" folder to the renamed folder manually.
(For example cut the content of the "text" folder from the newly created "Third_Age_3" folder and paste it into the "text" folder of your "americas" folder.)
Note : The "models_missile" folder has to be copied to the normal ".../Medieval II Total War/data" folder!
- The "Third_Age" folder can now be deleted.
Known Issues for version 3.2:
- The Custom Settlements are mainly designed for the campaign map, therefore custom battles with most custom settlements should only be played 1vs1.

Although I have noticed plenty of changes (namely the new settlements :) ) i would love to see everything that is different from voices to unit cards pweez :D!

3.0 have come to carry us home!
my problem seems to be with the digital download of the gold version with amazon. i have the complete expansion but i don't have a "kingdoms" folder or .exe extention so when i try to install patch 1.5 it tells me that it cannot find kingdoms installed on my system.
i read the instructions and according to them i don't need patch 1.2 cause i already have that with the "gold" edition.
I'm not sure why this mod is so hard to figure out or install, I'm assuming its because i have a digital copy of the game, but if there is ANYTHING i can do to get this to work please let me know. i bought M2TW just because of this mod.
i think i have spent about 3 hours on this now between reading and trying to find the "kingdoms gold 1.5" patch.
thanks!
p.s it claims i have no internet connection also..and wants me to set up the proxy server..i don't understand that stuff, any suggestions?
Did you just buy it from Amazon. They might have different installing processes and compression of the files. IMHO you should have bought it from steam.
I have medieval 2 gold and i just regularly installed mine and i have a kingdoms folder...hell i have multiple mods in the same m2tw folder and TATW works near-perfect (stupid dunedain bodyguards get stuck i nthe ground and cant mvoe for some reason >.<) and i dont use steam btw

this mod makes me *********
ok so good news and bad news... the good news is that i called my dad who works as a computer tech and hes got a friend who can fix my comp so he has it and ill, hopefully, have it back in time for christmas... the bad news is that he might need to wipe the harddrive to fix it... i was smart enough to take the installation files and move them to a thumb-drive though... i played it before i sent my comp away and O M G... it is absolutely gorgeous and i cant wait till i can play it smoothly... only one thing about it bugs me... the Palantiri are pretty...useless... why is it that something that could be so useful is rendered useless by your inability to control the damn thing? also another thing i noticed about it is that the "negetive consiquences" brought on by prolonged use of the palantiri is that you see full stacks of enemies that dont really exist... it would be much more realistic to the story if instead of this your characters gained negetive traits and auxilliaries... like how Denethor went insane from using it and Saruman "abandoned reason for madness" (not so much going crazy but more along the lines of losing all self control) and becoming a thrall for the Dark Lord. also i noticed that if you play the custom settlements in skirmishes as opposed to campaign the game crashes. unlike in the campaign (i played a battle in Osgiliath and it ran well... although laggy to the point where i almost lost, but thats due to the issues with my actual computer as far as i can tell.)
Really nice version and lots of new cool stuff but in the campaing the names of the cities move and they armies dont go always where you put them :( fix that please, or then it's just couse of me
**** YEAH!!!
I keep trying to download but it'll say "invalid data" or the download itself will stop at "copying" and advice?
Seriously someone at least help, this is getting really freaking annoying.
love it.
but i still think that the orc-factions have a huge disadvantage against the others. for example how are you supposted to win as isengard, if you are at war with rohan right from the beginning and can`t afford at least one big army, because of the high upcosts, which ruins your (allready) poor economy? meanwhile the ki can spam every turn new units, even if it is bankrupt.
can't you lower the recruitment and/or the upkeep costs for orc units? i mean isn`t this the whole point of an orc army? that orcs don`t cost anything, don`t get any wages, lives from plundering and everything they find in their surrounding, and are able to fast reproduce...?
Great mod. One thing that is annoying me is that certain regions will say they have large stone walls, yet on the battle map they only have wooden ones. There are other instances where it says in the regions details a ballista tower is present, however because it is a custom made castle which is very irritating. A fair few times I have not bothered to send reinforcements to a certain area as I thought it had highs walls only to be in for a nasty suprise when there is a mere wooden fence between me and the invading force.
Also some of my regions which have upgraded walls do not seem to be providing free garrison for any of my units, I do not know if culture has anything to do with this.
Trebuchets on the minas tirith city walls would be awesome, in the campaign you could buy them for city defences.
I'm trying to install this mod and it does download, but every time I try to start a battle it sends me this message "Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit" I have set the unit sizes and graphics to lowest settings possible and this still happens. I have steam but don't have it installed onto my PC, do I need to install steam it? Please help.
PLEASE!!! need help when i load up a custom battle it crashes and says 'window closed due to a unspecified...' cant remember the rest, please post back on tips to fix this!!
I have a bit of a problem, I installed it as told for steam, but when I go to launch the americas which is the one I picked far before reading the renaming part all steam says is that This game is currently unavailable (Application running.)
Any help at all is much appreciated :)
I installed v3.2 cuz I am psyched to see the changes, but after I installed it and tried to run the game on the shortcut on my desktop but it said something about a bat. file being replaced and the shortcut wouldnt work. I checked my TATW folder and I cant find a shortcut to the game. Any suggestions?
Any plans on having many more historical battles?
when i try to start this mod it says there ha baan error program now exits
i have dowload third age total war 3.0
