At long last the Thief Gold HD Mod v0.8.5 is available for download!

- added HD textures for all original missions

Do not be fooled because "newdark" is called "thief2". The thief2.exe works fine for thief 1! you can rename it to thief.exe!

For all who still have technical problems:
Step 1: Just do a fresh installation of Thief Gold!
Step 2: Install newdark
IMPORTANT! Some people have problems how to installing New Dark.
For those there is an unofficial patch called TFix on TTLG forums here:

If you install "Tfix" you have to deselect all options and then just click install!
If you already have installed tfix you have to make a complete fresh installation of Thief Gold.
Step 3: Install the HD Mod (after the "Tfix" installation!)
Step 4: If you want to use your own config file you have to add the following line to the cam_ext.cfg file:
dark1
Step 5: To fix some problems with bush and skin textures you have to add the following two lines to the dark.cfg file:
ObjTextures16
MeshTextures16
Step 6: Edit the cam_mod.ini with notepad and make sure the last line looks like this:
mod_path mods+mods\hdmod+mods\ep+mods\t2skies+patches
And don´t use other thief mods at the same time in your "mods" folder!

Well I now what I'll be doing tonight... replaying TG!
Well, this could have been good. . .if there was a way to install it. But your Thief2.exe didn't work and now the game won't run at all. I had to uninstall and reinstall the game to try it (and this was without the hd mod). Anyone have any idea how you are supposed to load this?
