I finished adding a loot system to the game. Each enemy will have a loot table for the four currency types in the game (i.e. Gold, Gem, Repair Kit, and Supply Kit). The loot system will be the main source for player income. These currencies can be used to purchase various in-game items such as maps, cart skins, etc.

The supply kit can be used to replenish the supply stocks, while the repair kit can be used to repair your cart, in other words, heal. The aforementioned actions can be done while inside the War Room.

Can’t remember if I’ve explained this before, but basically, the “War Room” will serve as an intermission between a set number of waves (I’m thinking 10). It will allow the player to regroup by doing repairs and resupply. It should also allow the player to review the enemies encountered so far, change cart skins, etc. This will also be a checkpoint, so if the player ever quits the game, it can be continued from the war room, with all the score, currencies, and power ups in place.

I’m still trying to balance the loot amount and drop rate, because it should be different for each enemy type. Obviously, repair kits must be dropped by Engineer or Tinker gnomes at a higher rate than the others.

Unlocking maps is now in the game, and it will remember the maps you have unlocked. The game will also save your best score and wave for each map, and will be shown in the “Map Select” screen.

Here’s an updated gameplay video that features the loot system. Watch as these pesky gnomes drop dead on the ground!
