Greetings, beloved prey!
We have been lurking around at the bottom of the ocean since August last year, invisible to the human eye... silently plotting, working and waiting for the moment to strike. That time has come. You should probably get out of the water.
In September of last year we were joined by veteran Epic Games programmer Ron Prestenback, who has proven himself a master of coding shark attacks. The shark attack feature was one of the most technically challenging and complex systems any of us have had the opportunity of developing in Unreal Engine. But now it's finished, and we are overjoyed. Recently we promised you a demonstration of this long awaited Shark attack system in action. Well, here it is.
Also on display in our brand new gameplay trailer is the treasure grab / cash system, sneak-gameplay, and "tagging", a crucial team-service offered by the "Watcher" class diver. Next, we'd like to announce the re-launch of our website now with tons of gameplay information and media. I think you will all agree it's a step up from our old site. Why not join our community forums while you're there?
But wait! There's more - Chris Latham of Engine audio, and myself - Alex Quick will be heading down to (hopefully) sunny San Francisco for this year's Game Developers Conference (GDC). If you also plan to attend, please drop either Chris or I a line! It will be a great opportunity to get some insider info on Depth, and booze it up with two celebrities. (Well, I'm serious about the first part!). See you in San Fran!
Love,
The Depth team.
Awesome, just awesome.
i second this
at first I was like, shouldn't the shark attacks be a bit more deadly? then at the end, I was like awww yeah.
Wow. Great stuff!
Amazing, Looking forward to this.
SHARKS!!!... No, no, nooooo, I can't play this... sharks, legs missing, blood, SHARKS!!!... help me mommy.... hahahaha....
Looks brilliant guys... I think the sharks are a little fast when cruising, but perfect speed for attack... excellent work.. SHARKS!!!... scares the crap out of me.
You need to make some sort of elimination game mode called "Hide and Shark" :P
Looks great so far, can't wait to give it a go!
i want to play this.... NOW!!!11
only multiplayer?
At present and for the beta release Depth will be focused purely on competitive Multiplayer only. This said there are plans to allow for some Single player interaction in the future but nothing is confirmed just as yet.
Hope this helps.
oh would be awesome to eat singleplayer bots/npcs in the game as a shark...
This game looks great. Tracking.
AMAZING!!! keep the excellent work! :D
ok... will this be freeware or p2p? anyways great work keep it up.
Wow this looks awesome, i would pay good money for this game. can't wait till you guys release.
The camera is too steady when you got bitten. There should be some shaking, also I wonder if you can still move it (with limited angle of course), it would be frustrating, even if you can't overcome your eater.
Holy god! That's just amazing! Please release D:
And I jizzed in my pants
Omg ! I cant wait
Sorry guys, there's no way im buying this..
Im just too afraid that I'll not only suffer shark attacks, but also 3 simultaneous heart attacks :P
That last part gave me chills! Amazing stuff!
huh, i didnt see you guys there!
Will the eels and other undersea creatures hurt you if touched? or serve as a health regen for sharks or something? the game looks very fluid as is! i like it!
Nice gameplay trailer. I think this game might do a good job at triggering my fear of swimming in the ocean :P
