Post news Report RSS The Stargate Mod lights and sound

It's been a while indeed but we think this'll make it up to you. :)

After undoubtedly quite a while we are back with an update. Before we get to the goodies let us thank all of you who voted us into the top 100 of the ModDB 2008 Mod of the Year awards!!! It is great to know that with our few media releases we still are being received quite well in the community. Thank you for that! Now let's get on with this update, shall we?!

First some new screenshots of our Egyptian-style map Anubis. After intensive testing the layout has been reworked and some new rooms inside the pyramid have been added. Also notice the new palm trees. Currently the lighting and all the map's textures are being significantly improved. The map also features a set of ring transporters that allow the player to quickly navigate from one part of the map to another.

The Earth-based map Roswell 47 is getting some finishing touches: Final rooms are being added as well as textures and lighting being perfected. The map has a rather linear layout with team bases at opposite "ends" of the map, makeing it suitable for our team-based game modes. However, it is also a lot of fun to play in free-for-all modes, there are some big open areas with multiple levels making some rash decisions deadly for players!

One of The Stargate Mod's first maps, the small Pond has recently been revitalized. New bridge parts, HDR lighting and updated textures make this "upgrade-in-progress" deathmatch scenery much more appealing.

Music update! Our web-music-player, which you can find in the upper right corner of our website, now offers a collection of new songs! And there's more: The player can now be un-docked from the browser window, thus not limiting your experience of the website while still being able to listen to all our songs. Just click on the leftmost icon () of the player to try it out. We hope you enjoy those almost 20 minutes of music!

And as our last bit some model renders: The first image shows one of our recently created genades, the flashbang. Coming in second are the new palm tree models that can be admired on Anubis. Third, the M4A1 was reworked and has more detail now. Then there's this render of our work-in-progress HMMWV model and last an image of a ZPM plug, which you are likely to be seeing in one of our multiplayer game modes.

Oh and in case you haven't seen 'em yet here are the two screenshots of the unnamed we've uploaded back in February:

OMGWTFBBQ!?

Are those map screens rendered in Source? They look ******* fantastic!
Great looking models, nice textures. The foliage is awesome. And, yeah, bloom helps. But, don't add more! :D

Really nice, this looks very promising. Great work.

I sure hope the maps will be as much fun playing as they are sexy to contemplate.

Oh another one.
How many Stargate mods for the Source engine are out there?
SG-TC2, STLS, SG-Legacy ... and now The Stargate Mod.
Your work looks absolutly amazing but also far from a releasable version.
I rather would like to have one absolutly amazing SG-Mod with a short development time then 4 more or less good Mods with a development time of several years.

This would also be good for the community, which is now divided into several mods with small player base and few servers, instead of one big community with a huge playerbase and a lot of servers.

The Stargate Mod, to the best of my knowledge, has been around longer than any other of said Stargate mods for HL2 and does not share the StargateTC background. So beside the fact that they all shared the same theme, this mod is very different in gameplay and features.

Well, to me they all seems to be somewhat similar to each other, no real big difference which cannot be done with game modes.
And i don't see the point in having each mod making the same props/weapons/playermodels over and over again instead of making it once and as good as possible.

IMO there should be only two SG-Mods for Source, a Multiplayer and a Singleplayer mod (I always wondered why there is no Stargate Singleplayer Mod).
