- The Return of the Gul! -

the Gul's reaction upon learning of his return.

That's right ladies and gents, I have returned to the fold. Some time ago Bane and myself decided we were happy with or contribution and both felt that we'd achieved everything we wanted to in STA3. We retired from active development but have kept close to the active team and in regular contact.

Recently the team have begun a new project; Star Trek Infinities for Stellaris. This has naturally put some extra strain on the team and as you can imagine has more than doubled the work needed to be done. Max has been very busy with Stellaris and is doing some fantastic work over there but that left Ambarenya with a little less support than he had previously with regards to the release of Final Frontier. After chatting with the Dev's and having recently stepped up to help out with the patches modding was an itch that I couldn't scratch.

It's a hard thing to describe really, the compulsion to be a part of something like this. It's a lot of work. It's at times frustrating, it takes a fair amount of time to achieve anything demonstrable and can make you want to bang your head against a wall when things don't work. But it's so unbelievably satisfying. I love what I do on my Youtube channel and I have to liken it with this. It's a passion that is, and should be unending. Yes, sometimes you need to take a step back in order to gain perspective and understanding but the desire to create never goes away.

Working with Bane on YT and with the team here at STA3 has been something life altering for me personally. They're amazing people and have truly left me a better, more fulfilled person than I was before I started these endeavors. The foundation of my YT channel was a desire to show off the work that these amazing people were doing, totally of their own backs, with no financial gain, simply because of a shared love of their chosen field and that's never gone away and never will. I wanted to get back to what I love in many respects and when Ambarenya suggested I might like to lend a hand again and I agreed I felt like I was coming home. This is what I love and I've realized that not being a part of this was a hole that left something missing. Long story short, I'm happy to be back!

I'll mainly be supporting the team in their vision for a much larger, more diverse galaxy for the player to explore and conquer in Final Frontier and will be working closely with Ambarenya to achieve this.

So let's get down to business!

- Give a Cardassian a Bajoran! -

It's an old Cardassian Proverb!

"Give a Cardassian a Bajoran and he shall have his housework complete for a day,

give him a disruptor and he shall have a whole workforce!"

That's right ladies and gentlemen! I'm talking about giving the correct skills and tools for the job at hand. Traditionally we haven't been able to do this but through the efforts of Ambarenya we've been able to redevelop tutorials for STA3! They're very transferrable and will teach you how to play Sins as a whole. If you complete the tutorials that FF offer it'll give you a solid grounding on how to play STA3 or any other mod you choose. Take a look and see what you think! We're really proud of this and can't wait to release it to you all.

- Every Cardassian loves a beautiful Model -

No, not the kind you're thinking of! Our team have continued in their commitment to bring you high quality models with a unique feel for our projects and I wanted to share this with you a little. Below you should see our new Romulan Warbird model by Nekronus. He's been good enough to pop it into sketchfab so you can view it from any angle. It's amazing work and I'm delighted to welcome him to the team. What an incredible first effort and I can't wait to see what he produces next!

We've also been replacing some other models that we weren't quite happy with and I was fortunate enough to have Max's modelling talent (giggady) shown to me recently. During a chat on Skype he fully modeled a new Steamrunner class. I was lucky enough to be able to record it and really enjoyed the process. If you'd like to take a look and watch it come to life then check out the video below. It shows the work and love as well as some of the techniques that go into creating something of the quality we need for our projects.

- The Outlaw DLC -

So recently sins has had a new DLC pack unveiled. This caused a little stress in the STA3 camp as it was only a couple of days following another update so we really had so scramble to get you playable versions out. As it stands we do already have support for the Outlaw DLC in our current build but it's more of a placeholder than a finished version. Currently the outlaw's you'll see are Bajoran scum vessels but we're going to take another look at this and hopefully we'll be able to include a greater variety of vessels that with mainly comprise of the current pirate factions. You'll see marauding Nauusicaan, Gorn and Orion vessels in Final Frontier as well as some of the pirate vessels from SFC (one pictured below). We'd love to be able to increase the variety of this but as it stands the coding will only allow us one group. Several teams have requested the ability to define several distinct groups for this feature and if this becomes a reality then we will increase the scope of this quite happily!

Well ladies and gentlemen, I think that's enough waffle from me for now. I hope you've enjoyed the brief update. We'll continue to post blogs like this as we develop. what would you like the subject of the next blog to be? Let us know in the comments.

Don't forget to watch our Stellaris mod also. you can find them on the link below!

Could somebody add a little mod that gives the Steamrunner the normale photon torpedos ? I hate the Cobalt Torpedos in Armada 2 back in the days and it was the first thing i changed.

It could be done easily, but the Steamrunner was a core ship in the original Armada games, and was historically featured as a long-range torpedo frigate wielding tri-cobalt torps. I can't think of another ship in its size class that would fill its role better, and remember, each faction needs to have some form of LRF.

Until now i didn't find a practical use for the LRF. They are kind of difficult to use. The only time i used it with some of the big ones was against borg cubes and starbases. The borg starbase has the same range as the big LR-ships. So you need much ships as defense-line.
I had the probleme that i see much servers but i can't join. Du i see all rebellion servers or only the armada 3 ones?

Hot schnizzle! That D'Deridex model is one the most jaw-droppingly beautiful models I've seen - anywhere. All of the props to you, Nekronus.
