Some of you might have noticed that Crylife 1.5.8 and 1.5.9 patch is no longer available for download.
The reason why Crylife 1.5.8 is no longer accessible for download it's because we
don't want for players, the new ones and as well the more familiar with Crylife,
to give them a wrong impression of Crylife and it's current state.
We've received a lot of feedback, either positive and negative about our mod,
Thanks to that feedback we were able to polish Crylfe 2.0 more,
add most of requested features, and fix some crucial game-breaking bugs that occurred for some users,
and enhance gameplay experience thanks to SMOD: Standalone.
...
Taking Crylife 1.5.8 down, allows us to focus on finishing Crylife 2.0,
and making it the most polished version of Crylife, and what it should be from the start really.
We're also working closely with some Linux and OsX modders to make Crylife 2.0 work on said operating systems.

I see where you guys are going with this and I think its a great idea on paper but actually practicing this isn't. This is bad for people new and old who want to see virtual progress of your work and can't download it. Thankfully I downloaded it before it was taken down so I've seen how great it has become but others won't be able to view the progress. I hope development continues and that there really will be a 2.0 of Crylife.
Keep up the fantastic work!

Have you guys considered Steam Greenlight?
Indeed, I'd love to see this on Greenlight as a mod to HL2.
If you don't want people playing a dated version, at least put it on Steam so it becomes easier for everyone to see this is a big project. You'll reach a bigger audience and people will actually know this has evolved to something greater.
It's probably not going to work, this mod uses too much content from other creators, and is entirely based out of valve's and crytek's work, so a greenlight would definately be blocked. I mean, other greenlit mods (like underhell)had to use only original content, I doubt that this one would be a exception (especially by Crytek's/Ea's part).
We're not using any content from Crytek.
And yes, greenlight won't work here because it's an smod mod.
That's a really bad decision actually, since 2.0 is still on development, what if I want to reinstall 1.5.9? Also, having older versions allow for people to see the evolution of the mod, and see how much has changed ever since the first release, and it doesn't really affect you in any way , you can dev 2.0 while 1.5.8 is still for download for people waiting.
As I must agree with you about availability, and the evolution of the mod, but there's one thing that made us take such decision:
Valve update of SDK 2006 that broke Lua code.
And now SDK updated again, and broke vpk.exe making Smod:Standalone
not playable/installable for most users.
If you want to re-download the mod, id suggest geting beta versions: Bsnooch.com
As soon as vpk.exe will be working again, I going to remaster 1.5.8 on a standalone engine. to make it slightly more enjoyable, and bug free.
Is vpk.exe defintally broken then? Because I have spent almost 5 hours going insane trying to get it to work...
