Why do you need their approval?

Don't give up yet! You should change the whole game while keeping it as similiar as possible to Doom's gameplay. You won't be sued then and you can use your own creativity. Give it a try, I want to see how it ends.

maybe you can try and remake the levels of freedoom instead.
Actually i'v already got new plains, i'm gonna make a game of my own but with a lot of the classic doom features, the name gonna be different, level design, monster design etc... wish me luck :)

if you cant use r2d2 or the word doom then no good but i dont think this project should go to waste i think rebuild it in the same way as doom 2 just change the names and story.

Pity. I at first thought you take tha WADs as a plan for the foes move- and placement like zdoom. Once you have the models, just mix the wad in and your're good to go. Also think of all the custom WADs that are out there...
