Wrongworld 1.2 Has Landed!
Wrongworld, the surreal survival game with an overwhelmingly positive review score from Steam users, has just spewed its latest update into the universe - imaginatively titled "Update 1.2" - which means there's a whole lot of newness to babble about...
Custom Mode
Wrongworld already offered a bunch of different game modes to choose from - Easy, Normal, Hard, Creative, Permadeath, Non-Permadeath - but now there's also a shiny new "Custom Mode", allowing you to play around with a wide range of settings to tailor the game to your own personal preferences.
Like playing on Normal Mode but struggle finding enough food? No problem - just tweak the "Hunger Loss" setting however you want. Enjoy the safety of Easy Mode but wish it was a little more crazy? Crank up the "Event Frequency" and the world will bombard you with the unexpected. Play around with the difficulty of the native beasties, tweak the number of resources in the world, decide whether or not you want to face the dangers of permadeath, and even mess with the gravity of the world!
Housing Upgrades
The house-building systems have received some love, and it's now easier than ever to craft and modify your own home however you want... Simply lay out a few modular tiles, select the wall and roof style, then play around with the colours however you want. And because it's modular, you can expand, remodel and relocate your house whenever you want, as often as you want.
And now you can bask in its glory under the glow of a new indoor lighting system.
Random Improvements
The combat lock-on system has also been revamped to make it easier than ever to keep track of your target.
Quality of Life
The in-game tips and UI have also been improved and refined, ensuring new players can jump right in and focus on exploring the world, figuring out the many mysteries dotted around, and, well, just having fun. All the intricacies of the game are gently and simply explained as and when they become relevant.
What's Next
Next up, I'm aiming to get Mac and Linux versions up and running within the next couple of weeks.
Beyond that, it'll be time to start working on version 1.3 and a whole host of new content to experience.
In Other News
I'm absolutely honoured, humbled and completely overjoyed to report that Sludj Games and Wrongworld have been shortlisted for a TIGA Games Industry Award in the category of "Best Start-Up".
