A seafaring sandbox adventure game. Fight ships, go fishing, search for sunken treasure, do what you want. - Closer and closer to alpha release

Posted by on

It's that time of the week again. Recap time.

The goal I set for myself last week was to get movement between layers working this week. It was far simpler than I thought it would be to get set up. I also made a pretty transition effect for it. By accident.

Day 26

After that I decided to do something I had been putting off for awhile now. Looping the world. Before, you would come up to the edge of the map and it would just stop you. Now you can move in the same direction forever and the map will continue to loop.

Day 26

Next up I started working on adding objects to layers in the background and fixing the issues that caused.

Day 28

Today was a productive day. I finished working on the multi-layer stuff from the last image, and I started working on AI as well.

Day 29
Day 29.5

So that about sums up the work done this week. Short and sweet, but a lot of work done.

This coming week I'll be working on the AI more. NPC attacking, interaction with boats, piloting a boat, etc. After that an alpha release is highly possible. It would be pretty bare bones since there's only the one ship and such, but it would be a playable state.

Everything looks pretty neat so far!
And I am looking forward to see how you will create the AI. Maybe you could explain that in one of your posts?

Sure thing, I'll put some stuff in the next update about it.
